Overcoming the Past
No one goes through life without getting dinged up along the way. No one goes through it without accumulating a certain amount of emotional baggage. The important thing to know is that these things from the past can contaminate the present and can certainly dictate the future.
Denial is not a treatment and time does not heal all wounds. The important thing to understand is that it's what you do with the passage of time that makes the difference. If you have an open wound, if you have pain from the past, acknowledge it. Determine what it is about those events that have caused you pain. Find out what you need to do to give yourself permission to stop hurting about it every day, and forgive yourself and others.
