Not always parents responsible for unsafe schooling

Quote From: afraid

but as far as schools not being safe, well i place the blame on parents with unsafe parenting skills> after all our children do go forth and conduct themselves in the manner we eather tought them to or didnt teach them to<>

For 3 years my 2 oldest went to a public grade school that was undergoing renovation and didn't have running water from the start of school until after Halloween. That was not on the parents responsibility it was the administration who wanted the biggest and the best school buildings in our area. My daughter was abused both physically and verbally by her 1st and 2nd Kindergarten teacher because she couldn't move as fast as the other children (she was an NICU baby with a muscle disorder and hearing and vision impairments--Although as a teen she lives as close to normal life as she can through years of medical care and therapy). The cases were documented by the principal and other staff as well as other parents and she was assigned to another teacher 3 times in one school year. She is and always has been a quiet well behaved child and it isn't her fault she had several teachers who were bullies. I am not to blame for the teachers behaviors either. The only thing I am to blame for is sticking it out and trying to fix the public school district and trying to get the state and federal education law enforced so our school sytem would follow the law.

These days we moved to a better public school district. And the kids and I are so much happier.

Holly
