Let me ask you this If you had a shape like Haley Barry would you cover up? Anywhere you look sex sells it is part of the times! If you looked like Eva Longoria would you cover up? I think you can dress classy & sexy if you have it flaunt it. The people that complain are usually not in shape, overweight, and older.  Some "Fantasy night" clothes are trendy & cute. I don't think it is appropriate for someone 300lbs or out of shape to wear a micro mini but someone like Paris I think she looks great! Some things aren't appropriate to wear  to church or a school function but pleeze lighten up and get with the times you dress how you feel comfortable and sexy whether it is leaving things to the imagination or not!
IF I looked like Haley Berry or Eva Longoria I would still dress tasteful. I will also agree with you that Paris is an attractive young woman, but she is much prettier to ME when she is not showing the world all of her "goodies". What she was wearing when she went to court was a lot nicer. I'm old school, and I was raised that you have to leave a little to the imagination or else people will get the wrong impression of you (Paris Hilton). Dress like you're out to impress the world. I will agree with you that "sex sells" but that I believe is PART of the reason so many of our kids are out having sex! Parents need to play an active roll in their kids' wardrobes and in their lives. I'll tell you this though, no matter how my daughter is shaped (like Haley, Paris, or Oprah-all of whom are very beautiful) she won't leave my house with anything that will show her private parts to the world with a single sneeze.

I did have a great body before kids and yes, I DID cover up.  Why?  Because I wanted men to see me for who I was, not for the body  that I had.  A lot of women complain that all men can think about is sex.  Gee, I wonder why?  It's like putting an alcoholic into a bar and tell him that he can't think about drinking.  While I'm sure some guys still fantized about me (as they would any woman in their age range), I never had a problem having an intellectual conversation with a guy without him staring at my chest (and yes, I am well endowed).

Now, I'm not talking head to toe, muslim style modesty, but c'mon.  Some of the styles out there cover less then a basic bra and high cut briefs would.  And yet, not too many people would walk around in those.

I wonder what kind of conversation we will be having when little nipple covers are the new fashion.  Those who advocate leaving a "little to the imagination" by wearing a bikini top would probably be told to lighten up. :/

SIGN OF THE TIMES?

LET me see.... does this mean that whatever comes down the pike, we as a nation need to jump on the bandwagon?  Sign of the times is a vague, but pathetic excuse to follow the crowd. Don't you think we should stick to what works, and has worked in the past? Wear clothes that cover your body. it is a temple, and it is only meant for your partner of MARRIAGE to view.  Not the free world. If you have ANY  moral compass about you, I'm hoping it tells you to put on garments suitable for the public.  I do believe that most of the girls today wear what they wear for attention, and not good attention. I do believe they have every intention of shocking those around them. I've seen young girls, around 9-11yrs old, dressed like street whores.  I have a daughter, now 25yrs old, and she never, never dressed that why. Want to know why? I as her mother, and teacher of morals, would never buy anything inappropriate for her to wear. Therefore, she couldn't wear it.  I know, some of you reading this are thinking, she changed at school, like most of them do. Not so, I worked at school. In the PTA. Free, volunteer work.  So that I could be a parent and she could be the child. Some of you younger parents need to stop letting your children "have everything you never had as a child"" because you are producing spoiled, unruley, mean, rude, brats.!!!!  The world could do without more of those kinds of kids. Instead, why don't you look back into the past at what worked.  Talk back to your parents, you ate soap. Come home late, you gat a spanking and grounded. Cut school, the principle, got you, your parents got you, your grandparents got you, and then you were grounded with double chores. Back talk a neighbor, the neighbor whipped you , sent you home and then your parents whipped you. Now, the only thing people want to do, is sue you, run your life for you, take control away from you, give your children birth control, condoms, sex talks, and so on. Those are the things that should be done at home.  Not the birth control, the birds and the bees talk. The birth control shouldn't even become a topic until you are talking marriage. Now younger and younger people are having sex for intertainment.  I'm so saddened by the way the parents have turned their children over to whomever or whatever will keep them out of their hair.  You shouldn't have children.  they are a blessing from God, and to throw them to the wolves like that is a sin.  you'll pay bigtime for one day. If you aren't regretting it yet, you will be soon enough. One last thing. When I was referring to the past about the way it was when I was growing up, I'd never change a thing. I was raised by a single mother with 5 children. We all survived our spankings, and the chores. It made me a better person. I didn't have anything, and was a very happy kid. We truely ove induldge our kids today, and as a result, they have nothing to look forward to. Has anyone payed attention to the crime rate? and the ages are going down. Younger and younger criminals. Being raised by a parent or two who really don't want to be bothered with them. They just got pregnant and now they're stuck with them. If that describes you, please, for the sake of everyone around you, train your child right. Teach them right from wrong. At the rate we are going, there will be no one to run this country but gangsters and thugs, all the good kids will no longer exsist.

I am probably old enough to be grandmother to most of you, and I don't know if it is because of my hippy years or not, but I agree with this reply.  We did some pretty wild things and dressed crazy for the times, but the majority of us turned out ok or better.  If I still had it I would flaunt it!!!  Most of these girls will turn out just fine.  Like the person said "get with the times".  I also agree that someone with rolls of fat and celulite hanging out is about as far from sexy as you can get.  I have seen many, many heavy girls and women who actually look sexy in the right clothes.

What I can't understand is why young men, who I am sure most of whom have cute butts, want to cover them with those huge saggy pants. I have never heard a girl say anything like, "Ohhh, he looks so sexy in those baggy pants", but let a guy walk past them in nice fitting jeans or pants and they almost "swoon".  Who are these guys dressing for?  Other guys? Certainly not for girls.  And I can't imagine something you have to hold up all the time as being cormfortable.

you are absolutely right.I work out 5 days a week so that I can enjoy the way I look and feel. When I see someone who looks great I can admire how they look. I think ppl need to stop being so old fashion. Usually it is ppl who are insecure who have problems with women showing a little more skin.

I'm going to have to disagree

I could not disagree more with this viewpoint. As an 18 year old and in great physical shape. I am also sick and tired of the generation I am growing up in. I am tired of seeing girls and women exploit themselves to gain self worth. And where is "getting with the times" going to get us in another twenty years? As we see rising statistics of young kids having sex in schools as well as rising rape and sexual abuse victims, when on earth are we going to take a look at where that starts and what we should do about it. How we dress, especially as women, plays an enormous role in the way our society operates today. What role models do parents allow their young daughters to emulate? Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and etc. All of these women have a couple things in common....an extremely revealing style in clothing, and prison records. Not exactly what I want for my future children.
