Too bad!

Quote From: sahalu

Dog, when blacks use the name, it has a totally different meaning. When other people use it, it is meant to degrade you as a human being and to say, there's something less than human about you. My ex girl friend, who was black would once in a while call me the "N" name, but the meaning she has in mind is not what the bounty hunter had. The "N" word dehumanizes and makes it alright to view the person as some kind of animal.

Do you really think we buy that message?  Don't tell me that one word can be used by black community and the white community cannot use it because they mean it in "another way".  You all either use it or we all need to lose it!  We will take our cue from you!!!  Nothing gets under my skin more that someone saying "I can...but you can't!"  You need to accept some responsibility and change your usage of the word before you expect others to do the same.

WHAT!!!!!!

I am a 26 year old African-American, Black, Black American, or whatever you want to call it and I am appalled at your statement. NO, it is not appropriate for ANYONE to use the N-word as it is a term of hatred, degradation and disrespect to many. That ignorant word is not allowed in my home, and if used in my presence by ANYONE, I voice my opinion about it. I do not get angry because yes I do understand the ways of the world, and am realistic to understand that this is a problem that will, more than likely, never die. However; I am not required to add to the ignorance or the disrespect, and have the right to say so. Someone said that if we want others to stop using the word, we should stop and they are absolutely right!!! We are a race that, although I hate to admit it, people expect us to be unintelligent, rude, disrespectful, deceitful, lazy, ignorant, loud, abrasive, and just plain trifling. Now in my opinion, if we want others to stop feeling that way then we (as a people) need to PROVE THEM WRONG. In no way am I saying that every single person, of every single race, nor that ALL black people behave this way, but as we all know, majority rules and "we need to do better". I wrote a poem regarding this whole situation and I don’t believe anything says it better than this:

Oftentimes I just sit and contemplate the mind,
A devine creation, hardly used and often abused
By those who are afraid to just...
wonder, think, believe, feel, DREAM
Ever Wonder...
WHO will help us shake these feelings of
oppretion, desperation, and laziness?
WHAT will happen to those of us who insist that we
can't, won't, or shouldn't?
WHEN we will replace these negatives with positives
such as can, do, and will?
WHY we can not just stand together as one and shout
"NO MORE!"
WHERE you will be when the revolution evolves and
causes and IMPACT?
Ever wonder...
HOW we could wonder the answer to these questions and
still not have done anything?
Never Ever Wonder... take action!
"A closed mouth never gets fed."

I never knew the "N" word meant something different when whites or blacks use this word. It sounds the same to me, no matter what color a person is that is using it. I don't think the show should be cancelled for that reason, he is doing a wonderful job for his country, keeping drugs off of the street.

FYI...the "N" word means EXACTLY what it means ~~ it was and will always be an OFFENSIVE word; there is NO justification for it to be said to/directed toward ANYONE ~~ PERIOD!!!

No! The "N" word has a horrible reputation for a reason. That meaning & reputation does not change depending on which mouth it comes from. No better than when women call each other a "B". It is never appropriate.

I am SO FED UP with this excuse!  We as a society can NOT pick and choose what words are acceptable for what group of people to use.  If it is not acceptable for a white person to use the "N" word then it is not acceptable for any other group either.  Is it acceptable for women to call eachother "bitches" or "Ho's" or the "C" word, but for men it is not?  Of course not!    My 78 year old neighbor uses the "N" word like it is the word "and". but people think that is acceptable because of his age or his generation..."That's what he grew up with...".  So what?!  We cannot pick and choose who can say what!!!  What is good for one is good for ALL so if African-Americans can use the "N" word so can the rest of society.

What Dog Chapman said to his son was said in a PRIVATE conversation.  It has become painfully obvious that this was recorded and released for financial gain.  It is also painfully obvious that he was coached to do so by his money grubbing girlfriend.  She is now suing for slander?  Money hungry!  I personally think Dog should be suing her for master minding this whole recording mess!

With that mentality, then I could call a woman an c""" and it wouldn't mean the same as when a man says it because I'd have a totally different meaning in mind.  Please!  Let me tell you how this works... my son spent the night at his friends house, who happens to be black.  The father of his friend met his son with a "hello my little n" when he got home from work.  Two days later, my son meets a friend of mine who happens to be black. Guess what he said.  You got it... hello my "n".  NOT COOL.  I had alot of explaining to do.  The fact is this, if you want to get rid of racisim, do it across the board.  No word that is labled racial is okay for some people to say and not for others because they might have a different meaning in mind.  That is exactly the type of thinking that will keep racism alive and well.

How do you know what he meant.I heard and all I heard is he was worried about what might have been said in front of  his  sons  girlfriend.  Of course  I  heard  only  on  DrPhil  so  I  didnt  hear all of the conversaton . This has been going on since I was in high school.  I thought  by now  I am 53 years old. I hoped by now that word would have not been used still,  By either race.

I have  friend of both races I love  them all the same.

That is the most redicuous comment I have ever heard, using that word means something different becasue a black person said it,  If someone said that to me I would not think it was cool or I was a better person because a black person called me the "N" word.  It is promoting a racial slure and it is allowing our kids to think that word is ok to use in society.

How is it different when they use it and when whites use it?! It's the same word. The meaning does NOT change when blacks use it. If blacks want whites to stop then they need to STOP using the word as well.
