saudi and islamic beliefs

Quote From: edmicequeen

I have been following this story closely as years ago I lost a good friend the same way .

Basically I think this article I will quote from the local paper here says it all .

Mideast   Saudis defend gang rape verdict

Saudi Arabia defended yesterday a courts decison to sentence a woman who was gang raped to 200 lashes of the whip after united states described the verdict as astounding .

The 19 year old Siite woman and an unrelated man companion was abducted and raped by seven men in 2006. Last week the womans sentence was raised to 200 lashes and six months in prison for being alone with an unrelated man.

Obviously the government in those countrys does not protect woman the way they are protected in countries such as the states and canada .

There beliefs are different and there laws are extremely different .

I do understand internet love but I think one has to weigh in cultural differences aswell.

Looking forward to Mondays show .

Actually, Islamicly the men who raped her should have recieved the death penalty and no woman should be thrown into jail for being around a man whom she is not realted to. That is the proper ISLAMIC LAW.

So no, Islamic law protects women very much so. Don't blame our religion for the dumb actions humans. If that were so then i would think bad about christians and others as  AMERICAN soldiers have gone and RAPED and KILLED many young women and their parents and siblings in IRAQ.

Where was thier protection?

The Arab world is backwoods. I’m an Australian Lebanese Muslim. This judgment is ludicrous. However to I must defend how they think. I was raised a Muslim and every Muslim girl to raised pretty much not to trust men. I wasn’t allowed to have boys as friends, I did anyway. All Muslim Arab countries still practice arrange marriages. So they only way for a girl to be seen with a boy in public is if they are engage to be married. There is no such thing as courtship, if a boy like you, his get permission from your parent to marry you and then you get to know each other.   This is how its always been in Arab countries, and that how their brought up. In some Indian religion the bride does not see her husband until the day of the wedding. These are customs and tradition, they know no better so we shouldn’t judge. That said this is why the girl got punished, I don’t Condon the punishment its stupid. From what you said she was out with a male who wasn’t related to her. This is a big no no in Muslim culture, I think the rape is punishment to last a life time, then the stupid government goes add fuel to her already burning emotional state by publicly punishing her for something someone else did to her is absurd. They only got 10 month to a year for raping her, how hypocritical, there animals, there not even animals. In Australia a Lebanese youth was jailed to 66 years for gang rape.

This is why I tell people its not the boys who are bad its their parents for raising them to think they are superior to women. What message do those sentences send out to young Muslim youth, only that the girl gets what she deserves and the boy it’s never the boys fault. Its one thing to have tradition and customs it’s another to punish the wrong person. Thank god my mother had 6 girls and 3 boys, and they were taught to respect women. My brother has been married to his wife for nearly 4 years and has never raised a hand to his wife.
