Internet Dangers

Quote From: tpcassc

As a member of Southern California Fraud Investigators Association we hold training conferences each year.  Recently we had a session on Internet Predators with a live demonstration.  I will simply describe the training as the most emotional and frightening I have ever experienced.  The speaker logged onto an internet chat room as a 14 year old girl.  Without entering any message at all she started receiving invitations to chat.  He replied in an innocent manner and received obsene solicitations.

Parents who think their children are not at risk are wrong.  Any internet usage and especially chat should as closely monitored as if you were taking your child into a prison with direct contact possible with persons incarcerated for predatory behavior.

BEWARE AND BE CAUTIOUS

As President of Kids Defense Team a non profit organization I have seen the dangers of predators preying on teens.  I have been trained to look for these dangers and as sitting in a chatroom there has been several predators contacting what they thought was a 12 year old girl.  You don't have to say a word for a predator to contact you and ask you for odscene solicitaions.

Parents beware.  You might as well open up your front door and invite the predators inside, because everytime you child enters a chatroom or some place like myspace, facebook, livejournel, etc. you are exposing them to danger.  Shut that door and lock it and keep your child safe.  You would not let them go to the park at night by themselves or go down a dark alley.  Getting on the internet is the same concept.  They are invading your home.

Kids Defense Team gives seminars on how to protect your child from online dangers.
