Same issue

Quote From: jettav

Maybe you can go the route of seperate as well but make that your own personal money and everything from the joint account goes for all neccessities, if it isn't a must or a need then it needs to come out of the personal account of the one who wants the item. Talk about this before deciding on the amount and come up with an agreement together. One of the number one resons for divorce is the subject of money. communicate and respect each other and sometimes that means compromising.

I've had the same question you have brought up with my fiance'.  I work and have my own job and take care of myself and as a working/single parent I don't make or spend that much money.  So, I thought that when I met my "True Love" that I would no longer need to worry about this issue.  I'm perfectly happy with my kid's, job and life in general and just wanted someone to fit in and just make it more comfortable so that I wouldn't have to worry about money no longer.  Consider the fact that in no way am I "High Maintenance" in regards to wanting material thing's, going to the salon and getting my nails or hair done (that I do myself) shopping/buying clothes or being wined and dined constantly.  I truly understand the value of money and how to cut back so really I'm not an "Expensive" package deal for anyone to have.  LOL  What I'm getting at is that once you find someone and want to marry you are no longer and "I" you become "we"  and to me that is sharing everything, including money.  I, like you find it odd to have "3" separate accounts when "1" would suffice and take care of everything.  I think that if you can't or don't want to share than it becomes a control issue and factor and I've been there before and don't ever want that again.  Really think this issue through clearly because it will effect the rest of your life and happiness to come.
