Quote From: imlosingw8Okay, so I never actually said I'm not into sweets, I just don't usually eat them. That's because it tends to be all or nothing with me. If I eat a little, I want more, more, more. So, I've just had to stay away from them for the most part. As you may remember, my treat every night at 9:00 when I have to take medication with food is to have a "no sugar added" fudgecicle, 40 calories. My biggest weakness is brownies! I get a box at Costco of Hershey brownies. I think it makes 6 pans. I keep them on hand for when we're invited places. Everyone loves them. It's hard to stay away from them, so I will save one to have instead of a fudgecicle.
I love the whole sweet/salty taste. I used to eat a brownie, then I'd "need" chips or pretzels, then back to the brownies. Pretty ugly. I haven't eliminated salt, either, but I try to cut down--especially the night before weigh in!! lol
Oh, the strawberry jam sounds sooooo good! I tried to make plum jam with my mom once. It ended up being the consistency of syrup, so we used it on pancakes! Haven't tried it again, not my cup of tea, I guess.
That's a great idea to call the gym ahead of time about childcare. I know they wouldn't hold spots for me, but if there's already a waiting list, maybe I could put their names in. Or, just not go. It is very aggravating to get psyched up to workout and then be 10 minutes late for the class because of their rotten childcare.
That would be heavy to pull 2 kids in a wagon! I know what you mean about not making a difference with the older ones gone. My kids are 5, 10, and 15. The 10 and 5 fight constantly! I really miss the 15 yr old when she's gone, because she is good at distracting the 5 yr old and running interference!
Did you make the lf spinach/ricotta stuffed chicken breast? That sounds really, really good!
Okay, I'm going to answer your next post, too.
(I'm so glad you're here!) : )

Sweets sweets sweets!! lol I shouldn't be eating any at all!! ok, maybe the odd time. My french Grandma (called her that since I was a kid) is a diabetic.she also has alziemers. It hasn't reached my dad yet, I don't think. But he does take pills for his heart and he is a bit over weight. And on my moms side, well her mom died of a stroke, and my moms pretty healthy right now, I think, she has no problems right now, doesn't take pills or anything, she's 56. But when we see things like this running in our family, we know we can prevent it from happening to us and our children. So why do we still do it? I guess the way we grew up and how our families cooked, I don't know. But I just want to be healthy and not have to worry about these problems later. So it's time to change for the better.
LOL! your so funny! cut down on salt before weigh in!! lol I should try that!! hehehe And plum syrup! Was it good on the pancakes at least? I'm going to eat jam on sat. morning with toast and coffee, I have it all planned out!! (don't want to eat bread before weigh in!! LoL) I use to love brownies, I would make them all the time! Not anymore though, but I love anything chocolate, just have to have it in moderation that's all.
I know what you mean about the sweet salty thing!! lol I use to do the exact same thing, maybe still do once in awhile. Like last weekend, I had a chocolate bar, then I needed something to get the sweetness out, so got some salty chips!! I could of got gum instead, it was right there in the machine, just forget sometimes! Or do I!! lol
My older ones like to tease and fight too they're 13, 11, 9. I guess it is a little less quiet around here!! Less to cook too!!
As for the chicken, Do you have a Super Store over there? That's where I got them from, it's the Blue Menu, comes in a box, package of 4, really expensive, didn't notice the price till I looked at the reciept when I got home, but they are so good too!!! for 1 it's a 130cals. 2.5g fat, 24g protein. I think they were 10.99, oh well, I'm the only one that's going to eat them. Would be too expensive to feed them to all the kids, and besides, they would say.....I don't like spinach!! lol I could really make them myself, I think I will next time.
