  • Congratulations for crossing the finish line in one of the most difficult journeys that you will face in your life! And now that you've crossed over from the 'darkside' you may be thinking, "What do I need to do to maintain my weight?"  You may feel like an awkward, lost puppy.  For so long now, whenever things got rough you summoned up your Willpower.  And your scales benefited from doing such.  But what now?  How much can you eat without gaining even an ounce of that unwanted weight back?
  •  When you get to your healthy target weight, what’s the best way to maintain it? It can be tough, well, here is the place for support.

MAINTAINING YOUR WEIGHT

Quote From: inchesbgon

San Francisco!! cool! Will you go over that big bridge? I forgot what it's called.

2 lbs eh! Well, I'd say good, but have to wait till tomorrow for the actual!! hehehe It does change from day to day. nothing wrong with peaking every once in awhile! lol kinda keeps ya in line.

How long was Strength training? I keep saying I want to go to the ymca to the bootcamp or something, but they have it at such an odd time, then I have no sitter. Someday I guess. If you did your stretching, you shouldn't be too sore! lol

Crockpot chicken sounds good, do you just leave it in there plain, or do you add something to it? I never know what to put in it, especially with fussy kids!

Loosey

We don't drive over the Golden Gate Bridge, but we see it from a different bridge that takes us into the city.  I have driven over it before, and actually gone under it in a boat, too.

I hope I'm still 2 lbs down tomorrow.  Then would it be even more by Saturday???  We'll never know. lol  We're definitely going to San Francisco, as opposed to camping.  My husband's family lives there.  We only manage to get out there at Christmas and then once in the summer.

The strength training class is 1 hr.  They only offer it on Thursdays and Saturdays.  I wish they would offer it earlier in the week, too.  It's a great workout.  I think it's a lot more efficient than when I go lift weights on my own.  It uses all free-weights, which are much better for strengthening the core, too.  I don't feel sore until the next day, and then it lasts until Monday!

I use a crockpot cookbook, "Fix it and Forget it".  I have fixed so many great recipes out of there!  This one is just a whole chicken with salt and pepper sprinkled in.  Then dots of butter on the outside, sprinkled with basil.  I know, butter...but it's better than all those recipes I used to make with cream of mushroom soup! lol  I'm fixing baked potatoes and peas.  Sometimes we eat the chicken in tortillas.  The house smells so good right now!

I'll let you know how weigh-in goes tomorrow.  I'll have access to a computer this weekend so I can see how Saturday goes for you.

Have a good rest of the night,

I remember the fudsicles now.

Quote From: imlosingw8

Okay, so I never actually said I'm not into sweets, I just don't usually eat them.  That's because it tends to be all or nothing with me.  If I eat a little, I want more, more, more.  So, I've just had to stay away from them for the most part.  As you may remember, my treat every night at 9:00 when I have to take medication with food is to have a "no sugar added" fudgecicle, 40 calories.  My biggest weakness is brownies!  I get a box at Costco of Hershey brownies.  I think it makes 6 pans.  I keep them on hand for when we're invited places.  Everyone loves them.  It's hard to stay away from them, so I will save one to have instead of a fudgecicle.

I love the whole sweet/salty taste.  I used to eat a brownie, then I'd "need" chips or pretzels, then back to the brownies.  Pretty ugly.  I haven't eliminated salt, either, but I try to cut down--especially the night before weigh in!!  lol

Oh, the strawberry jam sounds sooooo good!  I tried to make plum jam with my mom once.  It ended up being the consistency of syrup, so we used it on pancakes!  Haven't tried it again, not my cup of tea, I guess.

That's a great idea to call the gym ahead of time about childcare.  I know they wouldn't hold spots for me, but if there's already a waiting list, maybe I could put their names in.  Or, just not go.  It is very aggravating to get psyched up to workout and then be 10 minutes late for the class because of their rotten childcare.

That would be heavy to pull 2 kids in a wagon!  I know what you mean about not making a difference with the older ones gone.  My kids are 5, 10, and 15.  The 10 and 5 fight constantly!  I really miss the 15 yr old when she's gone, because she is good at distracting the 5 yr old and running interference!

Did you make the lf spinach/ricotta stuffed chicken breast?  That sounds really, really good!

Okay, I'm going to answer your next post, too.

(I'm so glad you're here!)  : )

Diane

Sweets sweets sweets!! lol I shouldn't be eating any at all!! ok, maybe the odd time. My french Grandma (called her that since I was a kid) is a diabetic.she also has alziemers. It hasn't reached my dad yet, I don't think. But he does take pills for his heart and he is a bit over weight. And on my moms side, well her mom died of  a stroke, and my moms pretty healthy right now, I think, she has no problems right now, doesn't take pills or anything, she's 56. But when we see things like this running in our family, we know we can prevent it from happening to us and our children. So why do we still do it? I guess the way we grew up and how our families cooked, I don't know. But I just want to be healthy and not have to worry about these problems later. So it's time to change for the better.

LOL! your so funny! cut down on salt before weigh in!! lol I should try that!! hehehe And plum syrup! Was it good on the pancakes at least? I'm going to eat jam on sat. morning with toast and coffee, I have it all planned out!! (don't want to eat bread before weigh in!! LoL) I use to love brownies, I would make them all the time! Not anymore though, but I love anything chocolate, just have to have it in moderation that's all.

I know what you mean about the sweet salty thing!! lol I use to do the exact same thing, maybe still do once in awhile. Like last weekend, I had a chocolate bar, then I needed something to get the sweetness out, so got some salty chips!! I could of got gum instead, it was right there in the machine, just forget sometimes! Or do I!! lol

My older ones like to tease and fight too they're 13, 11, 9. I guess it is a little less quiet around here!! Less to cook too!!

As for the chicken, Do you have a Super Store over there? That's where I got them from, it's the Blue Menu, comes in a box, package of 4, really expensive, didn't notice the price till I looked at the reciept when I got home, but they are so good too!!! for 1 it's a 130cals. 2.5g fat, 24g protein.  I think they were 10.99, oh well, I'm the only one that's going to eat them. Would be too expensive to feed them to all the kids, and besides, they would say.....I don't like spinach!! lol I could really make them myself, I think I will next time.

You have to forgive me, I am forgetful, as you can imagine how many things are going through my mind!! lol I'm glad school is out, I would get different notes home everyday, sign this sign that! lol then I would forget which notes I signed and who took what back to school! I plan on being more organized in September! lol I should have notes lying around the house to remind me to do things.

So if your still 2 lbs down tomorrow, what weight would you be at?

The Golden Gate Bridge, that's what it's called!! I watched something on the discovery channel about it one time. There forever painting that thing! lol

I bet the house smells good! I have that book!! Fix it and forget it Lightly! See how forgetful I am, I have a whole bunch of cookbooks, and they just sit there, I keep forgetting to look up some recipes!! I have some company's coming books, kraft also mails me books too. You just gave me an Idea, I'm going to look through them, and pick out some good recipes for next week.

I'm just going to look for a strawberry popsicle recipe on the net, need to do something with the rest of these strawberries.

Have fun this weekend, take a pic of that  bridge and post it!!

Why should you wait until tomorrow when you have soooo much jam???!!! lol  You should be eating it morning, noon and night! lol  Do you can it so it will keep for a while?  It would make great gifts for holidays or housewarming or when you're invited over somewhere or to your new friend in Nevada!  teehee

I lost 2 pounds since I weighed in 2 weeks ago!  That puts me at 134.  I think I'll get to 131 and then evaluate.  I see two problems here:  1, I think I'm afraid to stop losing weight, because in the past I've been better at losing than maintaining, and 2, I really need to tone up--I see that I'm not toned and I think I need to lose more weight.  I'm going to talk to the trainer I used last year and get her recommendations.  I think I'll try to maintain for a while, then start working on decreasing body fat percentage once I've got the increased calories figured out.

No exercise all week?  It's hard to get back in the routine.  I usually only take Sundays off, but I was thinking this morning that I'd like to cut to 4 times a week when I'm maintaining.

I've got lots to do to get ready for our trip.  I work a few days a week, and today's one of them.  We have similar occupations.  I'm on my own, though.  I go to the home of an 87 yr old and help her with cooking, cleaning and shopping.  Unfortunately, she needs more care now, so I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to help her.  I prefer not to do personal care because of the liability.  She really needs to go to assisted living.  Anyway, I made a list of all I'd like to get done before I go to work, and exercising was the first thing I did to get it out of the way.  I knew if I started packing or cleaning, I wouldn't exercise.

Eating will be a challenge this weekend.  My mother in law keeps so much junk food in the house.  The kids love it!  Fortunately, my dh is eating healthier now, so when we go out it will be to a place where we can make good choices.

Email me.  I'm curious.  : )

Have a great day!  I hope strawberries don't have the same effect as carrots if you eat too many...instead of turning orange, you'll turn red! lol

I would if I could eat that jam all day!! lol, but then I'd be eating too much bread!! lol

Way to go on the 2 lbs!! Only 3 more to go. Start working on toning and not worry about the scale so much, I think 131 is good. And remember to start increasing your food, a little each day about another 50-100 calories, I don't want you to lose anymore weight, because then I think it would be going overboard, and some might think you have an eating disorder. You'll do good at maintaining, that's why we have this board, to support one another. we will work on whatever happens when that time comes. I hope that trainer will reccommend something good!

I think last weekend brought me down and unmotivated, but I have the eating under control now, and I think I've got the motivation for exercise back too!!  I had to go to the bank this morning, it's so hot outside!! I had some toast with pb and homemade jam made with splenda and a 1/2 cup beans. I took my 4 and 5 yr old in the wagon and walked all they way over there, took me 50 minutes. Then the gym was right around the corner, so I went for a 30 minute workout on the elliptical while the kids stayed in the play area! Then walked all the way back home for another 50 min. I was so hungry after the gym! We passed many restaurants, I walked by all of them. I got home had some of my home made tomato soup, and some chicken, oh ya, and a homemade strawberry popsicle!! So good. Had lots of water and drank some of my homemade ice tea!! Everything tastes so much better when it's homemade, and you know what exactly your putting in it. How's is that for exercise!! lol Got a whole weeks worth in one day! I know, I'll spread it out.

I think I have a plan. 4 workouts a week. My little ones like going to the daycare they have there while I go workout. It cost $3 for both of them, I can't afford to go everyday, but If I can manage to go at least 2x a week, then that would be good. Cause I like going on the elliptical and I could do the strength training at the same time. then I can do the other 2 by either going on my bike, treadmill, swimming or going for a walk. Sounds like a good plan eh!! Cause If I tell myself I need to workout 6 days a week, I already feel overwhelmed, then when I do it for a week, I don't do anything for the following week, so at least this way, I know I can do it.

Glad you got your exercise done and out of the way!!'

I turned red today alright!! not from strawberries though, got red on the way home with a little sunburn!! lol It's ok, I'll be nice and brown!! not that I wasn't already!! LOL

We seem to have  alot of things in common. Glad to have you as a weighloss/maintaining buddy!!

Wow!!!!!  You exercised about as much as I have all week!  Good for you!  Four workouts a week is a good plan, I think.  I agree that six is overwhelming.  I never set out thinking I will exercise 6 times a week.  I just take it day by day.  I decide if I have time to do my 30min or 60min workout each day and then I do it.  I really don't want to keep up the 6 days a week, though.

I think you're right--I'll get to 131 and chill for a while.  I actually really like how I look and feel today.  I think I need to get the increase in calories figured out before I start weight training more, because that will change my weight.

I got off work a little early today, so thought I'd drop you a line.  I'm off to an appointment.  I'll check in later today or tomorrow.

Take care,

You sure have done a great job maintaining!  We're having fun--just got back from the playground with the kids.  I think we'll take in a movie this afternoon.  I don't even know what's showing now.  Ate well last night, except for the chips and salsa we got before dinner.  Once I start, it's hard to stop!  Going out for dinner tonight, might  meet up with friends for dessert.  We'll see how that goes.

Have a good weekend!
