Searching For Birth Parents

Quote From: browna2004

My name is Amanda I was born In November 1977, for some reason my parents couldn't keep me so they put me up for adoption when I was 6 months old I was adopted my parents now are wonderful growing up I put them through alot but now that I am married and have children i see that it was hard. I did look for them but since the year that I was born and the state I have to go through the Michigan court to locate them like i said i started then I started back up again so one day soon I will have the chance to find them.

I always wonder if they are still alive and If they think about me, I thank god that they put me up so I could have a wonderful life but I still wonder.

Just wanted to share my story because I know that there are other people out there like me.

Amanda

Hi Amanda,

My name is Carol and I am a birthmom.  I have been happily reunited with my son for 12 wonderful years.  There has not been a time in his life that I didn't think of him.  Birthdays were especially hard for me.  You see I had my son for 1 1/2 years before I had to surrender him to adoption because I had no one to help me, familial or financially.  What I was making was not enough to sustain the both of us.  On his birthday I would find a place inside of myself and stay there with all my memories and the love I continously felt for him.  My son was born in 1970 in what was called the baby scoop era.  Thousands and thousands of us moms lost our babies through coersion.

Believe me your mom thought of you often.

searching for siblings

I was born Jan 2 1970  My birthmother name was Lucille, she ws 41 at my birth.  I was born in Prince Georges county MD.  She had 3 other children, 2 girls and a boy.  I believe the boys name is David born in 1954.  She was divorced when I was born. My birth fathers name was Claude born in 1928 and he had a family with 3 children as well.   They were "friends".   He was never told about me.  Lucille worked for the phone company for 22 years.  She has since passed away.  I am searching for my siblings on both sides.

Searching for Siblings

Greetings!  I am a 64 year old female who was adopted at birth.  I was born in Flat Rock, Michigan 04/10/44.  I have no medical history or any idea of my heritage.  Both of my adoptive parents are now deceased.  I have 6 grandsons and some health issues have arisen.  I would love to find out if I have any siblings that could provide me with any information.  I am not looking to disrupt anyone's life.  I fully am aware that my birth mother could also be deceased.  My hope is that someone in Michigan or from Michigan might be searching for me.  I am open to corresponding and even meeting any half siblings I might have.  I am not looking for anything other than information.  If you can help me in any way, I would be most appreciative.  My email address is:  grannygosh@gmail.com

"Who Am I?"

I was 46 when I accidently found out I was adopted.  I am now 64.  I discovered that my adoption was private and the doctor and lawyer are both dead and so are my adopted parents.  Shock was my first emotion;however 18 years later I am mostly frustrated that the laws in my area are so wrong and outdated.  I am denied my personal identity because this was a private adoption after 1940; however, my records are sealed in the Freehold court house in NJ and also somewhere in the state house. This is a time when girls are selling their eggs and men  their  sperm to strangers and I am denied my own personal identity including my medical background.  Everytime I go to a doctor it angers me because I have to put down 0 when they ask for my medical history.  THIS IS WRONG!!!! and totally unfair.  I am tired of hearing about everyone's rights when, infact, as a human being 64 years old I am denied my personal identity.  My side of the family tree is always empty.

Child placed for adoption

On April 18, 1981 I gave birth to a little boy at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch NJ.  This little boy was 7 lbs 11 oz and had reddish hair.  I put him up for adoption to benefit his life.  He was a child of rape and I knew I couldn't give him the love and attention he so rightly deserved.  My (now) exhusband was a saint - he helped with the arrangements for the adoptions thru Catholic Charities (and no, he's not the dad but would have raised him as his own if that was what I wanted).  I am not actively searching for him because I am hoping his life was good and happy.  I am here, however, if he wishes to talk to me and learn about the other son I have.  I pray that his life was happy and love-filled.
