Looking for birthdad

Quote From: nonni2_1

I completely understand what you are talking about. This story is sooooo close to ours that I had to read it twice to make sure that I didn't write it!!!  I am also looking for my husbands father and mom won't tell or just can't remember anything. It is frustrating!!!! I have had soooo many people helping me that if I had to send out thank you cards..........well, I'd go broke!! I will do what I can to help. Do you know where he was from or where your husband was born? I have a couple of ladies on Reunion.com that are just wonderful at searching.

I'll ck back later to see your reply. Hang in there! I'm on yr three but I'm not giving up!!!!!!!!!

Searching for Birth Parents

Quote From: gngcrzy4u

I was adopted in Florida. I have been searching for a while now for my birth mom with not much success. My bio-sis & I were adopted together when I was 4 yrs old. I have sent for my non-id info, but it has been 2 months without hearing anything. I was told that Tallahassee doesnt even have my info by a PI. My birth certificate says I was born in marion county but my hospital record is from orange county. My original SSN given at birth isnt turning up with anything, even though I had an FBI agent check it through the government systems and a PI check it too. I know a doctor's name I saw when I was little, and am trying to get my records. My adopted mom refuses to tell us anything, so for various reasons I suspect my adoption wasn't completely legal. I can't find any info on the agency we were adopted through bc its no longer around. I'm so frustrated because finding my family is a deep passion for me and I don't know where to turn, nor can I afford a PI. Does anyone have any help for me please?

more info please!  I am searching for a brother and sister that would have been adopted together at ages 6 and 4, possibly from Florida. They could have been placed with relatives.   Sisters birthname was Jacqueline.  I   was born in Michigan and adopted at age 2 from florida.  My birth name was Robby.  Birth mother and birth father were married but divorcing at the time of relinquishment.

Searching for Birth Parents

Quote From: susieqmead

Sara,

Also, regarding my brother, when my father and I were visiting this past weekend we found out that my brother Chris and I used to go to the same skating rink every Friday and Saturday night! I probably have seen him a hundred times and never knew it was him. How wild is that?! It has been very interesting and sad to know we've been so close to each other and never knew! But the important thing is to not dwell on what was missed but to move on and make new memories. Of course there is healing to do which comes with time and communication but the most important thing is we found each other.

Again, good luck in your search and God bless.

Susan,

Thanks so much for replying, I feel comfort in having somebody to talk to about this, none of my friends are adopted so I usually dont talk about it, it seems they dont understand. I'm soooo happy you things are workign out for you. The rink thing is sooo ironic! Do you look alike now that you know??? I will be 16 next week, 2 more years until my search can get serious, yay!

Thanks for replying

Sara Diane

ADoption is inhumane

Quote From: tigger6367

KENTUCKY

Obtaining Non-Identifying Information: Non-identifying information is available to adopted adults and adoptive parents of a minor.

Obtaining Identifying Information: Adopted adults age 21 or older can petition the court to initiate a search for the birth parents. If the Department is unable to locate the birth parents, the court may or may not open the records. Pre-adoptive birth siblings may search for each other through the Department if they are over the age of 18. Birth parents can file consent for the release of identifying information.

Obtaining an Original Birth Certificate: An adoptee must petition the court in which the adoption was finalized.

Providing Information: Birth parents or birth siblings can request that information be given to an adopted adult or adoptive parents of a minor about medical or genetic conditions that may affect the physical or mental health of the adopted adult.

Best of luck to you!!

I read your words and they brought tears to my eyes. I am also adopted, with no idea of who I am, I'v lived my entire life feeling disconnected from the rest of the world.  I do have adoptive parent's who love me very much, and as much as I am able to love, I love them.  It would break their hearts if they knew how I'v felt my life, of course I pretent to be happy, why should anyone els have to deal with my pain.  I also have a son whom I am fiercly protective and in love with, and since I had him at 21 he has been my only connection in this world. He is now 18, and I am terrified.  I have put all my eggs in one basket, I'm talking about my identity, and he'll soon have a life of his own.  I focused completely on giving him every security I have never had. I'v begun to slowly come undone, I'm so afraid to face life on my own again.  It's so hard for people to understand, it's no one's fault, everyone had the best intentions, but I really do feel adoption is inhumane, as the adoptee never belongs, never fits in, always feels lost.  I have not searched for my birth parents, mostly because I would not want to diminish my adoptive parents. I'm from Canada, born in Victoria, B.C. October 24, 1966

Victoria B.C. Canada October 24, 1966

Does anyone know me?  I was born in Victoria British Columbia on October 24, 1966.  I don't know much, and the little I do know, I don't know how accurate it is.  Social services handled my adoption out of Duncan B.C., I have always known I am adopted.  I was told that my mother was at the time a high school student, I think in Victoria. My biological father was apparently a high school teacher on exchange from another country, possibly Switzerland.  My adoptive parents believe he was married but had come to B.C. alone. If anyone out there has any information that could help me, I would be very grateful.  I believe she was 16 years old in 1966.  I'm 39, and I need a connection in this world.

After reading your message I went to www.411.com and put in the birth fathers name.  There is an old listing for a James Allbee in the state of MA.  Could that have a connection?  Just a thought.  Good luck in your search.

Listing in TN

Quote From: gagirl1958

If anyone around the Augusta, Georgia area knows this gentleman, I would appreciate hearing from them.  I know that he was in the area up until about 10 years ago.  He may still be there or he may have passed away.  From what I understand, he is my birth father.  I am not trying to cause any trouble to him or his family, but I just found this out after my Dad passed away.  I had no idea that he was not my birth father.  I just turned 48 years old, so needless to say, it came as quite a shock to me.  I would like to meet him or hear anything about him that someone may know.  I have hired a company to look for him but the names they gave me were not him.  If anyone can tell me how to go about looking for this needle in a haystack, I would appreciate it.  As you might gather, my time to find him may be running out if he is not in good health.  He would be approx. 68-75 years old.  I am not real sure of his age.  Thank you in advance to anyone that knows anything or can help me.
After running the name Johnny Cavender on www.411.com there is a listing in Greenfield, TN for one Johnny Cavender.  It lists him as 72 years old.  Maybe??

My Success Story

I am 37 years old, and I was adopted at five weeks old. I was raised by a loving, Christain couple, and I always knew that I was adopted. As I grew older, the need and desire to find my birth mother only intensified. I had very limited information, but I did know the name of the adoption agency that was used. When I was 33, I contacted the adoption agency and requested my family medical history (which I knew I was legally entitled to obtaining). The agency then contacted me with some very surprising news. Ironically, someone in my birth family had contacted the agency and updated my family medical history records within that same year. This was a huge "wow" moment for me, for I knew someone must be looking for me, as well. The agency then advised me to register with several Reunion Registry websites (for they had already advised my family member to do the same), and upon making a "match" (based on my birthday and general location), I would be contacted. In a few weeks time, I received that phone call!!! They provided me with my birth mother's name, phone number, and location. By that afternoon, I was talking with her on the phone and making arrangements for our meeting. What a fabulous moment! The meeting was as wonderful as I had dreamed, and our strong relationship now is everything I'd hoped it would be. I have healed emotionally in so many areas of my life due to this event. I have siblings (4 maternal) and (2 paternal). The happiness and joy I feel are beyond words. It is my prayer for those who are searching to never give up the hope that their story will end as happily as mine. God bless you in your search.
