A staple of any weight loss plan is moderate daily exercise. Pilates, yoga, and aerobics are hugely popular, along with good old-fashioned walking! What exercises do you find most effective? Share your routine with us!

I take it that the messages on the top of the pages are the most recent ?  and can you reply to a message without the quotes ?  I'm sorry to ask all these questions , but I'm finding this style is new to me and a bit confusing.  cheers
And last, your other question: can you reply to a message without the quotes?
Yes, I believe that the "quotes" the board is referring to are quotes from Dr Phil's books. For these boards in the weight category the main book would be THE ULTIMATE WEIGHT SOLUTION. But it's perfectly OK to give your own tips, pointers, and help without quoting the book.

Thanks ritehere for your help.  Most boards I've been on have a different page for every topic, they aren't usually all in the joined as these are.  No doubt I'll get the hang of it.

cheers

My Exercise Routine

Hi all, I just started posting to these boards, in the weightloss department. My name is Lynn and I live on the Central Coast of California.

My exercise routine consists of biking; 5-6days, 8-12miles each day. I do weight training 2-3 days per week.

I'm frustrated right now because no matter what I've done (ref to my exer routine above) in the past six months, nothing is changing about my body. :(

There's got to be a reason why my body is resisting weightloss.

Are you taking in more food than you are burning off?  Sometimes, I think that since I workout so much that I can eat more but not always true.. Water and Sodium play a huge part in your diet.. Let , me know you think

That is a good routine you ahve mapped out.

My question to you is this...are you sure nothing has changed about your body?  How do your clothes fit?

With the routine above I am sure you have developed muslce mass....which weighs MORE than fat.  Ergo...you may weight the same but you are losing the fat.  Make sure that you start slimming the portions and watch out for hidden calories too.  You might want to conisder increasing your reps, and moving in time to music so you don't cool down so much between sets.

Just a few thouights.  D

plan in action

Quote From: mikao2603

A year ago, I did not exercise at all. Until it came to a point that I had heart palpatations while resting. I went to my physician. She told me to do some sports to strengthen my heart and loose weight.

This was a pivital moment for me. Now, a year later I still have to loose a lot of weight but I'm feeling a lot better than before. I do fitness training 3 times or more a week. At least 50 minutes of cardio training every session did wonders for my heart. I would not do without it anymore!

Jo

doing alot of walking and eating the right foods will help you to lose weight..

if you cannot succeed in doing this there is always exlax at your nearest pharmacy I know that i have tried this and it really works for me.

What if you're NOT sedentary?

every time I hear someone talking about losing weight, the first thing they say is that you have to get moving. I completely understand that you can't lose weight by sitting around. My problem (or challenge as some would say) is that I do physical labor for about 4 hours a day. After which I'm STARVING. So I eat portions about 3 to 4 times what any normal person should. Dr. Phil says that it's not about willpower, but if I were to cut my portions in half it would take a tremendous amount of willpower NOT to eat more.

Another challenge I have is the time I get to eat. There might be 2 days a week when I have time to eat supper before 7pm.

I know it sounds like I'm whining, but I've just never come across anyone who shares this particular challenge with me. Is there anyone else out there who can understand the challenges of an overweight person who works very hard every day?

P.S. maybe I should mention that my business is running a riding stable. I have to feed (which means lugging hay and water to 14 horses) , clean stalls and give riding lessons daily.

The Young and The Restless.

Last year, my school started up a Yoga/Pilates class. I've always been interested in trying Yoga, so this class certainly piqued my interest. Yoga is amazing. Simply amazing. It motivates, strengthens, tones, and calms. Anyone and everyone should try it out.

Also, since I'm not really into exercising, but am terribly into video games, DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) is a really great way to squeeze exercise into my life. At my weight, I can burn 400 calories in half an hour. Plus, it's relatively fun and rather addictive, so it's not hard to want to do it. It works on your eye-foot coordination, reflexes, and really builds up your muscles. It's great for teenagers and kids (and everyone else...).
