Do you wish the whole world knew your name? Do you wonder how it would feel to stroll down the red carpet or have the paparazzi waiting for you as you walked out of a restaurant? Jennifer recently auditioned for American Idol, but didn’t make the final cut to go to Hollywood. She thinks about her failed performance every day, and says Simon Cowell crushed her dreams. Will she be able to regain her confidence when she performs on the show? Then, Elizabeth says she’s determined to make her 9-year-old daughter famous. Her sister, Priscilla, says her niece is too heavy and doesn’t have the talent to make it. Is Elizabeth setting her daughter up for failure, or should Priscilla mind her own business? Plus, Taylor Hicks went from virtual obscurity to instant fame …all with the help of 64 million American Idol viewers. Don’t miss Taylor’s riveting performance, talk about the show here!

Find out what happened on the show.

duh

too bad these people care so much about being famous- but famous for WHAT? maybe they should think about something noteworthy they could do to EARN themselves some recognition first- for doing something that really matters....and then see if they can handle the fame that comes with it...i'll bet they wouldn't be so obsessed with something so ridiculous by then, because they'd be fulfilled enough with their accomplishments...rather than some stupid measure of nothing!

I found the "American Idol" segment rather infuriating. She's obviously got food, shelter, health, nice clothes, and friends and family that support her. What she has she really takes for granted... and then sings "Amazing Grace"... how IRONIC. Please don't use sacred hymns to show off your God-given talent if you're only after the materialistic things that fame and this world have to offer.

I was diagnosed with a rare and incurable autoimmune disease called Wegener's Granulomatosis on August 30 2006. It also has no known cause. I was in the ICU for 2 and a half weeks, including my 20th birthday. ICU is a very depressing place, completely devoid of happiness, sunlight, and music. Music has always been an extremely important part of my life (oboe 7 years, flute 5, voice 6) and having silence (excepting the various machines I was hooked up to) was indescribably difficult. A friend came and sang to me, and there was also a lady with a harp whose husband has been in the hospital for the past couple years-- she has learned to play the harp while sitting in the hospital with him, and she travels to various rooms, playing and singing for people.

I think that this young woman should volunteer to sing in hospitals. Not only would she gain some world perspective by seeing many people who have REAL reasons to cry... her talent would make their stay easier. It makes a huge difference-- trust me.

Or she could pursue her musical passions by earning a music degree and then teaching in an inner-city school.

She could perform as a fundraiser for cancer patients or impoverished inner-city kids or anyone else who needs it. How about one of the many fundraisers for a cure for diabetes? www.jdrf.org

There are SO MANY places where any talent- musical or organizational or what-have-you-- are USEFUL! American Idol is frivolous, pure and simple. You have the power to make a difference!  Please, gain an appreciation for those around you and for what you DO have-- and then go and use your blessings to be a blessing to someone else!

I think you are being a bit harsh. I have 2 things to say:

1-Yes there are people out there who have it worse...there are people out there who have it worse than you. There are people out there who have it worse in different ways than even THOSE people. Comparing hurts is really useless.

2-Crying is a biological reaction to stress and grief and emotion in general. I cry very easily. Doesn't mean I lack prospective and good priorities. It means that I naturally cry when faced with certain things. I think it's quite possible that this guest might be the same way as millions of other people are.

I was wondering......

The mother of the nine year old said that she nearly lost her daughter at 10 months. SHE didn't say this, but I'm wondering if she meant that she feels that God spared her child for a specific reason. The thing that I feel is not quite right, is that she doesn't think that her other kids notice that she makes a difference between them and their sister. Not even knowing them at all, I have to believe that they are aware of it. It just doesn't feel right to me. It's not fair to them.Even now that my kids are grown, I still make an effort to treat one the same as the other. I would be afraid that they might grow to resent their sister or think that they don't measure up to their mother's expectations.Mom, you don't get do-overs. Better try to make it as right as you possibly can while you still have the chance. I know that the lady who was cut from American Idol explained exactly how she felt and why she felt that way. I guess I just have some kind of a mental block, but I really don't get it. She has said in her post that she is not obsessed with Paula Abdul, and she surely knows herself better than I know her, but I declare it sounds to me like she is slightly obsessed.

Dr. Pil said it " Get Over It"  I was backing him 100% until he said that he's have her come out and sing towards the end of the show!!  What was HE thinking !  Now she's going to whin more !

And the Mom of the little girl needs to let her be a little girl !  She is a cute thing, but she can't sing for God's sake !  She has over kids and needs to be a Mom !  Don't live her dreams that she didn't make it as a star !!  How much $ does this woman have that she can put together a medical team for a child?  Maybe she needs them for herself to checked out in the head !

I agree with you completely!

I was annoyed by the whiny woman from Idol - even her post here, she said something like she loved her experience but was disappointed with Paula not being there.  Frankly, Paula may have been nicer in letting her down, but I can't see her having voted to pass the woman to the next level.  Even though she said that she wasn't upset and liked her experience, she bawled like a baby during most of her segment - sheesh!  Get Over Yourself!

The woman with the 9 yr old needs a reality check big time.  First:  cute litte girl, but she can't really sing.  Second:  You know how little kids always make comments like "I'm going to be a " (fireman, policeman, nurse, doctor.....) "when I grow up"  It doesn't mean you run out and have them driving a firetruck - its ridiculous - get a grip lady!

I just made a comment in a different post about that woman bawling; I wasn't really thinking about it being a reaction to stress, but still...

Regardless of whether that kid has talent or not, it is just wrong for Dr. Phil to say that the mom is living through her kid.  There are many famous "child actors" on TV and in movies whose parents have "helped" them get where they are today.  A child cannot find an agent and pay for classes, so parents have to help them.  It takes tons of hard work and dedication.

Isn't it our job as parents to assist our children with obtaining their dreams?  It is no different from saving for college so they can become a scientist!  I believe parents should help their children to make their dreams come true.

Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

You know they say that some of those people who get on american idol and really cant sing have some pretty serious issues in them if they think that they can be a singing sensation overnight. I sang for 20 years in a band...making a living at it just like he did. However American Idol wasnt around then. But I dont regret a single moment. I knew in my heart that I didnt want to be around that type of lifestyle. Poor Jennifer and her obsession with Paula, and she can be in denial and say its not an obsession but she must have thought that Paula would get her to Hollywood..but after hearing her sing, she has nothing that is unique or exciting to make someone take notice. Taylor Hicks? Well to me he isnt all that but he is all that to enough people to make him popular and get that fame. My hats off to him and I wish him well. But its not going to happen for everyone. And Jennifer...you are not one of those people it will happen for.....sorry

Im listening to Jennifer right now...and I was right, she hasnt got it. My God what was Phil thinking. She doesnt have it, she cant sing. She not only lost her pitch but she has no ability to put any soul into like she thought she was doing.
