Not sure how long it has been since I made it here last, but know it has been l-o-n-g  t-i-m-e!

Dh has been having many problems, which we thought were solved last December, but then he started getting sick...they thought it was pneumonis...BUT, after being in the hospital in Jan. 08 and again in Feb. 08...AND AGAIN March 23 (Easter) (in and out several times with maybe a day or half a day out and back in for several weeks) and finally last release was May 30 (after 2 surgeries and 2 1/2 weeks in rehab nursing home to get off oxygen & walking with a walker)) he is better and off oxygen and no walker.  Seems it was the meds they gave him in Dec. and did not have pneumonia after all...just a reaction to med.  Thankfully, one of the doctors took him off and he recovered!!!

We both survived!

If I can make it through posting (and it was a miracle I remembered my username and password   (lol), I will try to see how everyone is progressing.

Hi Connie, you may not remember me because it's also been a long time since I posted (longer than you, I'll bet!).  I came back a few weeks ago.  Glad to have you back, and glad to hear your dh got properly diagnosed and that he's doing well.  Hang in there!

progress

Bren, so glad you lost 4 pounds in 2 months!  It's all about progress, isn't it!

I haven't exercised since last Thursday, because Friday I was busy getting rid of a KIDNEY STONE!!!  Yuck.  Turned out there was probably more than one, and I was down for the count until Sunday, especially since it was the weekend (so no reg doctor) but it wasn't quite bad enough to go to the ER.

I know exactly what caused it -- I increased my IE dramatically without increasing my water intake.  So I've been pushing fluids and feel strong enough to start back with the exercise today.  Wednesday is normally my "off" day, but since I need to restart, I'll get on the treadmill tonight.  I imagine I'll be back at square one with how far and how fast I can move my body, but that's okay.

It's warm here, but not awful.  Should get up in the low 80's today.

Hope everyone's well,

Gertie

Hi Everyone!  I went to my Dietian's Office yesterday and weighed in.  I have lost 4 pounds in the last 2 months.  Since I was busy moving, I did not exercise as regularly as I usually do and my weight loss was slower than it usually is (I usually lose about 4 pounds per month).  Still, I am pleased with the results.  Take care everyone! :)  Bren

Congrats on that 4 pounds.  Moving was a lot of exercise, but you are right.  One gal at Weight Watchers has lost 35 pounds in less time than I have lost 10.  But she does IE  daily three or four times a day for an hour or more each time.    I don't know that she does anything else.

I've just been proud of myself for going to the gym and working out for an hour daily.  I know I can sustain my IE over time, I don't know that she will be willing to.

Hope you have a good day.

Hugs,

Anita

Glad you are feeling better, oh pioneer woman who passes a stone and is working out by Wednesday.

Stones grow over time, I think..  They just get jolted loose sometimes.  My mother had kidney stones and was in and out of the hospital for 10 years with them.  She has a vial somewhere with them in it--or at least the ones they caught at the hospital.

Guess that is why I've been so good over the years to ensure that I drink a lot--don't want anything building up in my.

Anyway, glad you are on the mend and feeling better.

Where are you?  I know it has been cooler than usual in Kansas but it is still in the mid 90's.  We just haven't hit 95 yet.  Couldn't tell it by the way I sweat.

Have a wonderful day and careful not to over push yourself, girl.

Hugs,

Anita

Happy Tursday

Allergy shot day, thank goodness!

Just wanted to let you know that I'll be looking after my folks while my DB & DSIL are out of town.  They live with our folks and take a huge load off of me.  So, if I disappear now and again, I didn't fall into a big hole.  My life will just depend on how things are going with them.

Y'all have a great day,

Hugs,

Anita

IT IS SO GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK.  Glad that you needed some motivation as I'd wondered many times how you were doing.

Sorry to hear that you caught a bug--hope you are feeling better soon.   But, sick or well, it's great to have you back.  I've thought about you frequently--just in case your ears were ringing.

Perhaps this is the perfect time, to pick yourself up and get back on track.  You've made the hardest step--just deciding to do it is a giant step.

I'm back at work out and determined that I won't let myself be put on the back burner again this school year.  Nobody remembers the extra work I did and I'm still not at a true healthy point, so "oh, well" is my motto at work and I'm determined to get back to my old routine at the gym.  I've got a good start on it this month.  Now I'm just trying to keep the momentum going.

As my great-grandmother used to tell us kids, "Can't never did anything!"  So, up and at 'em, girl.  Join me sweating and huffing!!

Lots of hugs,

Anita

Wednesday

Haven't been able to post the past few days--I've been busy between parent care, cooking, and running back and forth between two houses trying to keep up with all the strands.  I did treat myself to having the grass cut.  For my budget, that was a big splurge, but I was helping Dad cut his grass and take care of the veggie garden while my brother is away.

BUT, I did lose 2.6 pounds of the 3 lbs I've gained over the last month.  I'm going to continue my 110% effort this week and see if I can lose the rest PLUS some more.  :)  I am so tired of waffeling at the same numbers.

So all the diligence on portion control and the IE has helped give me a pay off.  That makes a good reason to keep going.

Hope you all are having some summer fun and enjoying those healthy meals of fresh fruit and veggies, the grilled stuff, and the pool, or whatever makes your summer fun.  Just keep moving!

Hugs,

Anita
