How well do you think you know your neighbors, your friends and even your child's teacher? It is estimated that four to eight million people in North America are swinging in the suburbs -- mostly middle-class folks from all walks of life. Dr. Phil gives you a closer look at who these couples are who engage in sex with other twosomes. First up, Nita and Walter have been swinging for the last 12 years. They say they are happy in the lifestyle, so why does it cause tension in their relationship? Then, Brent says he has a strong yearning for he and his wife, Renee, to participate in a threesome. Renee says the idea disgusts her, but worries that if she refuses to join in, Brent will leave her. They fight constantly, often dragging their 17-year-old son into the middle of their chaos. Brent says he thinks about having threesomes every other day, but says that his desire is normal. What does Dr. Phil think? And, Dr. Phil viewers weigh in and share their thoughts about the swinging lifestyle. Join the discussion.

Low Class

The description of this show says most of the "Swingers" are middle class people......that might be true, but they are "low lifes".  This lifestyle is just so wrong in so many ways, and as always has to affect children of these marriages.  What kind of commitments to a marriage/family bond  are they learning from their parents? If this guy think's his behavior is "normal" is he dead wrong.....he can justify his actions by saying that, but it's still not the norm.

Quote From: zimexlady

People who swing have ultra low self esteem and turn to activities that lower that esteem even more.

It works for us!

My husband and I have been part of the lifestyle for 3 years. It is most definately not for everyone. We are open with our close friends about it, but we don't tell our family. Just as you wouldn't want your family knowing how much you like being spanked during sex, I don't need my family to know I like to have sex with other couples. We have two beautiful children who are also not aware about our sex life. Would you share with your kids about your sex life? We belong to a swingers club. Life is busy and we only swing once every 6 months or so. Jealousy can be a big problem for people in any type of relationship, but especially these. We haven't had that problem what so ever. We are both very confident in our love and we enjoy seeing each other have a good time. This works for us, because it's what we both want. Anyone trying to do this simply to please their partner is only going to damage their relationship in the long run. It's not for everyone, but it's loads of fun for us! We definately are not your average couple, but we are madly in love and that's what's important. :)

Swinging???

I noticed that each of these couples didn't start the practice of swinging until they got married. That alone speaks for their lack of commitment. Why get married if you are not sure that the person you are marrying is the only person you want and need. Swinging is the need for self gratification, which would indicate that your mate is unable to satisfy your needs. One thing that stood out to me was that the guy said that he enjoyed watching his wife with other men because he could stand back and watch her reactions, her movements and the look of satisfaction on her face. Newsflash!!! You did not put that look of satisfaction on her face, someone else did. You should be asking yourself if you measure up to the one who made her feel that way. Obviously she's asking herself those questions when you're with another woman. Here's a trick you might try.... buy a video camera. Videotape your sessions with her, then you can watch her look of satisfaction with YOU all day long. Better yet, mirror the walls.... In any case, keep it all to yourself.  A man told his woman a few years back that he wanted to try something new and "strange", she told him to "buy a wig, because that's as strange as it gets in her bedroom. In my marriage, we keep it fresh with role play and spontaneity. Sometimes, the only thing needed to spice up the bedroom is creativity.

OMG!!!!!

I can speak from experience on this one. My ex-husband (notice the word ex) wanted this.  It's all he ever thought about.  The biggest mistake that I made was trying to see what was wrong with me and what could I do to make him want me more.  I finally realized that it had nothing to do with me. This was his sickness and his disease.  When he started chasing my sisters and wanting to involve them in a threesome was when I decided enough was enough.  I took my son and left.  I have since then have found a husband who practically worships the ground I walk on. Together we have created the happiness for each other that we were seeking and deserved.  To this day my ex is alone with no one. I don't wish that type of saddness on anyone, but he was warned and I stuck to my guns.  The guest on today's show needs to find in her that same strength to just walk away.  I don't believe her husband was very sincere at all in wanting to change. I could see in his eyes that he was just saying what he thought his wife and Doctor Phil wanted to hear.  I will make a prediction that given a few more months after this has calmed down that this topic will come back up again. It is then that she will have to stand her ground and leave if she ever wants to be truely happy.
I cannot believe you would post with your picture there for the world to see!!!!

Mind Boggling

First of all, I have been happily married for 30 yrs.  My husband and I have three amazing children, ages 21, 26, and 28, who are thriving in society and have good wholesome moral beliefs and standards.  The very thought of what is referred to in our society as a "threesome" disgusts me to no end.  What woman in her right mind would want to watch her husband engage in any form of sex with someone else?  Sex is an important part of a happy and fulfilling marriage, but is something that should be sacred, respected, and shared between only the two of you.  Call me old fashioned, but what ever happened to loyalty, faithfulness, respect, and the ability to be content with having sex with ONE person?  I would be the first to agree that sex should be spontaneous, creative (not perverted), and give pleasure to both, however, it is something that two people "in love" share together, not something that you share with a perfect stranger, and not something degrading.  One last thought, I thank God that my husband is who he is, but if he so much as ever mentioned "threesome" to me (which I would stake my life on the fact that he would never do), he would be out the door faster than you can blink! bottom line!

You cannot be madly in love.  People madly in love DO NOT do this.  What are you thinking.  You cannot possibly compare your marriage with mine.  I have been married to the same man for 23 years and have five children.  You should not even think that you can be in the same category as us.  How dare you offend me like that!

Swinging

This is so sick!! These people are perverted. I don't beleive for one minute that it strengthens a marraige. And yes, it is cheating. Duh!! You screwed another person. They've just convinced themselves that it's ok if they do it together and so they can "have their cake and eat it too"! As for the second story, She needs to tell him to go jump off a cliff. If my husband even suggested it, he'd have divorce papers in his hand so fast his head would spin. Even if they both get help and he never brings it up again, that pain will always be with her as long as she's with him. She seems like a really sweet gal and ther'es someone out there who would truely love her.She needs to get some balls and take care of herself, he'll never change! When my husband and I first met, he watched porn. I hated it from day one, but I tried to get into it. He KNEW  how I felt and still, when we'd have sex, He'd "take care" of me and then get up and start the vcr for him. Every time this happened. I felt like throwing up. It has really done some damage and there has been no porn for about 3 years.(One day I actually broke them in half with my bare hands) I still feel that I'm not enough. My self confidence and self asteem are down. I absolutely despise victorias secret commercials or anybody dressed sexy on tv. Just seeing it really puts me in a mood, because I just don't look like that . I am constanly trying to lose weight  and I work out. Finding the dirty magazines in his trunk didn't help either. And he doesn't get on the internet anymore. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I will always feel that he would like porn and I have kind of forced him to change his ways and that makes me feel that he's not happy anymore. Another thing about porn is that I truely believe that it teaches people that sex is just sex. Us girls need romance and tenderness,Neither of which you will find in porn or swinging!! There's a big difference in having sex and making love. There's way more to our story that just the sex issues, but another day. And I'm gonna remember " I'd rather be healthy alone, than to be sick with someone else". How profound!!! If I'm ever single again, that's how it's gonna stay!
