Everyone has their own opinion on things BUT, my personal opinion and also from my past, history, growing up and learning and experience is that IF the mother is overweight and the daugther is overweight and NO medical problems can be found, then common sense would tell you that BOTH the parents diet and therefore the kids diet is completely BAD, WRONG, ETC, ETC. It can be a combination of not being educated on what foods are good, which are bad and also a lack of exercise, lack of energy, and a poor overall situation for both the mother and child.
If something says 'low fat' it does not mean eat all you want and you won't get FAT. The BIGGEST misconception that people make is that its NOT fat that makes you necessarily FAT but bad carbs and sugars that will add on the pounds very, very fast. So eating breads, pasta's, potatoes, chips, and also things in high sugars will automatically store as fat and unless you know alot about nutrition, dieting, healthy lifestyle and how to read labels on foods then your behind the 8 ball from the get go..
When I was about 8 yrs old until about 15yrs old I was the 2nd youngest of 4 kids. I was the ONLY kid that was a 'bit' heavy boned I guess. I wasn't fat but I wasn't skinny like the rest of the family. I hated getting teased by my brothers and also I was a year ahead of myself in school and also smaller then others and a bit chunky and I would get picked on, teased and name called to the point where I did something about it.
First off I started educating myself on foods, whats good, whats bad, what foods are made of and what are the do's and dont's about eating. In addition to that I ALSO purchased a gym membership and started working out 6 days/week for 2 hrs a day. I didnt like it at first but I stuck it out and started to LOVE it once changes started to be seen on my body. Another BIG MISTAKE people make is that IF they dont see instant changes, or nothing happens right away, they stop and quit and give up. It's easier to give up right?
It did take a couple months, YES A COUPLE MONTHS but once I noticed changes to my body, I couldnt stop and after a while people started asking me for advice on working out and eating properly. NOW which is almost 10 yrs since I started working out and eating right, I look amazingly good, feel good and get lots of people coming up to me at the gym, even in public asking me for help and Im always willing to help people who truely want it. Its not an easy, simple thing to change your lifestyle and your body, BUT ALSO people who are FAT and overweight and OBESE, if you ask yourselfs it DIDNT happen overnight either right??? SO don't expect it to be fixed overnight either...
I will PROMISE anyone that it DOES get easier. The HARDEST part of any lifestyle change is the first 2 weeks but after that it becomes a habit and gets easier everyday after that. Also exercising even 45 minutes a day will give you so much benefit in so many ways.
I could talk about this forever and ever on here but its not as hard as it may seem. But it will only happen if you want it! IF IT WAS EASY EVERYONE WOULD BE DOING IT! I live by that MOTO!
A few EASY things I LIFE BY, kind of like my RULES of the ROAD!
1) Workout at the gym atleast 5 days/week for 1 hr.20 min 1 hour weights and 20 min cardio. Even 45 minutes at the gym is amazingly beneficial! 45 minutes thats nothing right!
2) Eat smaller balanced meals. I eat 6 smaller meals/day and NOT 3 BIG ONES!
3) PERSONALLY I LOVE HIGH PROTEIN and moderate/low carb meals. That may be extreme to some people but I like it that way. It keeps me muscular and lean year around. Even in the summer I test myself and get under 5% bodyfat. Yea to some that may be extreme or unhealthy but keep in mind its only for summer time I do it and its only for short periods of time.
4) NEVER eat LATE at night UNLESS its ONLY either protein and/or fibre. So like chicken breasts, tuna, fish, lean meats (turkey, wild meat, roast beef, chicken, and even some hams), Protein shakes, cottage cheese, and for fibre eating cucumber, celery, salads and fibre cookies/wafers. Also never eat sugar late at night.
5) Alcohol is EMPTY CALORIES! No matter what! IF you MUST have a couple drinks now and then, red wine and something like a low carb beer maybe or like a gin and diet coke is ok.
6) WATCH for SUGAR! its evil! No regular POP! no chocolate bars, no junk! Also low fat don't mean crap! Its not that fat, but read the nutritional label. Check out HOW many carbs/sugar there is PER SERVING remember! so don't forget to multipl;y that by how many servings are in the package/bottle!
7) As for me I eat 1.5 grams protein per 1 pound of body weight. And I eat 1/2 the carbs per 1 pound of bodyweight. Remember that is a bit extreme to some people but eating that way will guarntee amazing results in a little time :) For normal people eat 1 gram protein/1 pound of body weight and make sure your carbs are less then that.
8) That doesnt mean by any means that you can't have a cheat meal or some foods that arent the best for you. But remember everything in moderation! As for me I eat good all week and reward myself on Saturdays with a lunch/supper of whatever I want, pizza or steak sandwich and some ice cream of a blizzard from Dairy Queen. Truthfully infact eating something 'bad' for you one day a week will HELP you loose MORE weight! and also keep your sanity!
Sorry to blab on and on but its really not that hard, although there is alot of misguided people who think they are eating good when they are not.
If your lazy and overweight don't blame anyone but yourself. Its up to you and thats all it is. So overweight people can get mad, get jealous and say whatever they want. But the reality is the reality!
If I had to say, THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT FOOD NEVER SAYS NO! and that alot of people are emotional eaters and are FLAT OUT LAZY, and DEPRESSED and just make up EXCUSES!
I personally know men that over in their 40's that are is 1000 times better shape then teenagers and people in their 20's cause they workout and eat properly!
Hope that helps! and remember.. IF IT WAS EASY EVERYONE WOULD BE DOING IT!
