Congressman Ted Poe spoke on the Congressional control on the type of lightbulbs being used. The new ones, the CFL contains Mercury, which is poisoning, and you have to take it to a specific recycling center. According the EPA, if you break one, you have to open a window and leave the room for 15m+. Then there are special rules as to how you proceed to dispose of the broken bulb- you can't even use a vacuum or broom (or rather, you're not supposed to).
Also CFL bulbs can interfere with RF rays in your remote controls. They are made in China, stimulating a Communist economy. There's a correlation between the our economy and the environmental constraints introduced through Congress.
