(Original Air Date: 11/2/2005) False accusations have ruined lives and divided families. No one knows this better than Terry. She claims she was falsely labeled as a gossip at her son, Steve's, rehearsal dinner and was escorted out of his wedding by security! Now, she confronts her son and daughter-in-law for the first time in almost five months. Can this family ever reconcile, or are they better off apart? Then, a former high school principal made headlines when a 16-year-old student accused him of having sex with her. The scandal rocked the town, and now he struggles to regain his reputation and move forward.  Share your thoughts here.

WE NEED MEN LIKE YOU!

Have you ever considered moving to Charlotte, North Carolina?  Charlotte is in desperate need of dedicated individuals such as yourself.  Dr. Wilson, your presence in this school system would be appreciated and cherished.  I live in a city very near Charlotte, and believe me I know what I'm talking about.  If you ever considered moving toward the southeast, please consider applying for a position in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system.  You are the very shot in the arm this system needs!  Good luck no matter what you choose!

I know How It Feels!

My husband and I are struggling under the burden of being falsely accused. My sister-in-law (my husband's sister) accused us of stealing from her house and from stealing from others as well. Of course, this is untrue and she has never come out and directly accused us of stealing (No one else has either). She has mentioned it to others for them to tell us about it (very cowardly). Others including a 2-hour rant to my mother!

The fortunate thing about the situation is that everyone knows, in the family, that she is a pathological liar. It still sucks to have to defend yourself!

I have never been accused of something like this as I try to live my life with integrity. It wears on me (us) since we always have to see her during family functions and holidays. She makes it clear to everyone that she doesn't want to have anything to do with her brother by intentionally excluding us from family functions, specifically by not inviting her own brother to celebrate their parents 40th wedding anniversary.

I wish there was some way to take her down. She is deserving of a rather harsh lesson!

I gotta agree with one of the other posters.  There is a BIG difference between gossip and truth.  Gossip is a false statement meant to cause harm to another.  TRUTH is something that actually happened.  Your dad could NOT keep his "shrinky dink" in his pants DURING HIS MARRIAGE!  Therefore, he got his MISTRIESS pregnant!  What part of that is gossip?  Your mom has a right to be angry!  So does your sister!  So do you, only you're too much of a "daddy's boy" to realize you should be mad as heck!  Pull your mom and sister aside before the nuptials and state your position, don't EMBARRASS them by sicking the police on them RIGHT BEFORE THE CEREMONY!  Your dad is a gutless wonder, and apparantly so are you and your "darling" wife!
I totally agree with you, I even posted a message myself.  That daugher-in-law just pi%@ed me off from the get go.  She didn't want his mother there and that "gossip"  thing was all she had to work on.  I can't believe he (a so called man) let this happen.  That's his mother for crying out loud!!  I wish Dr. Phil would have tore into the daughter in law a little more, and gave the son a bigger wake up call.  Sounds like these two need to slapped to get them to thinking straight!!

Principal

What happened to the girl who falsely accused the principal?. I think if criminal charges were brought against her and other who recant their stories were prosecuted this type of situation might be avoided. The problem in today's society is younger people know there is no consequences for there actions. Keep your head high Principal.

Let's get it straight...

Gossip can also be a true statement...not solely a false one.   Webster says: "a person who habitually reveals personal or sensational facts about others" and "rumor or report of an intimate nature".  I find it hard to believe that the mother was completely innocent in all of this.  Whatever she said to the aunt was gossip about the dad.  Weddings are a time to put aside differences and be there for the couple.  The mom obviously couldn't do this and was embarrassed because the kids stuck to their word.

Parents seem to have this belief that they can do whatever whenever they want to their children and we're suppose to forget and forgive for the mere reason that they are the elders.  I'm going to stick with one of Dr. Phil's other philosphies...stay in a relationship only if it doesn't mean you have to change your authentic self.  We're all going to die and with some parents that continually abuse (even their adult children) sometimes it's best to let it go and live your life without them.

Hold on to your faith!

I would just like to commend this great principal for making it this far in your life and doing so well and also for making children your passion.......so many kids this day and time need more people like you in their lives......as for this situation.....I have worked in both the school system and the prison system and can't believe how other people want to do GOOD people wrong.....its like a game to see who they can make fall the quickest and it's soooooo upsetting to me......as for you, keep your head up and hold on to your faith....GOD will see you through and you will PREVAIL.....just wait and see!  If I had the chance to offer you a job, I would hire you TODAY!!!!  And to your wife....GOD bless her for standing by you and being your rock.......both of you deserve great things!!!  I will surely be praying for you and your family!  Take care!

Wish he was here

I am a nurse in a facility for troubled teens, a lot of them from the Philly area & this guy sounds just like what is needed there. These kids are at the end, nobody wants them when we get them, & we attempt to treat them while we are a locked facility. I LOVE what I do & live with the threat of this very thing everyday, as in our facility gender is not a consideration. They accuse anybody of anything, that's what they have learned will get them attention. Negative attention is still attention & these kids need it desperately.

I will keep Dr Wilson in my prayers, because maybe if there were more of him, there might be less of my kids & a big part of the reason there aren't as many people willing to go out on a limb for these kids is because of this very thing.  Our society has gone "Sue Happy" & in the process taught our children to accuse.

Hang in there Dr. Wilson...God has a plan for you!!!

what about the mom?

The mom couldn't tell the truth sitting on the stage-took no ownership in the matter. The mom has a habit of gossiping and lying. She can't remember most quotes but could remember what she said to this Aunt. It was their wedding and his sister started things off on a bad note, maybe she should be the first to apologize.

False accusations of rape

News flash...Among reported crimes, rape has the highest percentage of falseness.
http://www.anandaanswers.com/pages/naaFalse.html
In my jurisdiction the percentage of false reports is over 90%. The main reason this number is so high is because the false victims aren't prosecuted and exposed in the media. For those who think that practice would further discourage true rape victims from coming forward, you're wrong.
