Eighteen-year-old Natalee Holloway disappeared early last summer during a senior class trip to the island of Aruba. On a recent show, Dr. Phil joined the search for the missing teen and broke new ground in the case. He called for a boycott of Aruba and put his own investigators on the trail. Now, two months later, Natalee's mother feels there is a strong chance her daughter is still alive. Hear, for the first time ever, the evidence she reveals to Dr. Phil. Also, learn how effective the boycott is and why a pair of Dr. Phil's rescuers found themselves in need of a rescue.  Plus, Natalee's disappearance bears similarities to the case of another young woman who went missing in the same region. Meet the parents of Amy Bradley and see what strong evidence has them holding onto hope that their daughter is still alive.  Join the discussion.

Find out what happened on the show.

Furious!

As an Air Force wife, I am absolutely FURIOUS that the Navy seaman did not attempt to help Amy.  He is SWORN to protect and to serve America AND it's people.  He turned his back on her & left her in a horrid situation for fear of getting his hand slapped by his commander.  What a pethic person & I can't believe he is part of the uniformed members of our country.

So sad.

Pulling together...

Americans are boycotting Aruba due to the fact that the government would not allow the FBI or our own investigators to help in the interrogation and gaining information on the island.  If Aruba had been more helpful and forthcoming I highly doubt that Americans would be taking the stand they are now against Aruba.  Why should we allow our families to go there when we know that if we did go missing the government there would not do everything possible to help find us!   I agree with our decision to boycott the country on this premise.  We are not boycotting the country as a personal affront to the people that live there, we are doing it to make a point to your government.

The world is not safe.  Not in the small towns nor on a small island out in the middle of nowhere.  As long as there are demented sex crazed individuals we are going to be fighting things like this.  As parents we cannot let our guard down where our children are concerned and we need to be vigilant in trying to find these kids and putting criminals like this away and throwing the key away!  My heart goes out to the parents that have missing children.  May they all be found and returned to their loved ones.

If Aruba wants our business they should be more open to help and assistance from our officials who know how to get results and aren't looking to cover their own butts!

Yikes

I had a chance to go on a Caribean cruise, but my mom said no. She said it was "because of school" but it was a time of year where nothing was happening. I think this is the real reason. An 18 yr old red head...even she wasn't allowed to go somewhere without a male escort, and if she didn't have one the ship provided her with one.

After reading the summary (I'm in France right now and don't get the show**sob**) I will never ever ever go to Aruba. Doesnt anyone see the pattern here of that one club Carlos 'N Charlie's??? It was mentioned in both cases! I bet anything it's part of an underground sex slave ring

I'm NEVER going on a cruise to Aruba, and will only go on a Caribean cruise at all unless I find a boyfriend who is a 6 foot something-body builing-martial arts master

11/17 The Search for Natalee and Amy

I'm sure it's hard for you to give a subjective look at the Natalee Holloway investigation, Aruba78, because it is your home and probably has a special place in your heart.  Just so you're aware, I vacationed on Aruba for ten days about 2 years ago, and I LOVED it.  The people were friendly and it was a perfect vacation, and you're right, the island is safe.  What concerns me, is the competancy of the investigators of the case.  When Dave Holloway first went to the island to look for his missing daughter, one of the police officers asked him how much money he has.  That is totally unprofessional!  Also, the prosecutor (in the earlier days of the case) is good friends with Paulus van der Sloot.  I'm convinced that this had much to do with the incompetancy of the Aruban police force/investigation team throughout the whole investigation.  Also, the FBI WAS NOT ALLOWED TO HELP WITH THE INVESTIGATION, they were only allowed to view documents and observe interrogations.  It also is a proven fact that the interrogations were totally messed up.  There were no follow-up questions during questioning; in a signed statement by Joran van der Sloot, he said that he thinks "Deepak raped and killed her."  The Aruban investigators left it at that, they didn't bother to ask why he killed her, or where her body is.  I know you might think that because crimes like this don't happen on Aruba, that they didn't know how to handle it as good as investigators in the USA could.  But it has nothing to do with that, it's common sense to ask follow up questions, even I would know how to do that and I have no experience in law enforcement and I'm from a town in Iowa that has not had any crimes in the last twenty years.  There seems to be an extreme lack of common sense on the part of the Aruban officials.  They've yanked the family around so much hoping they'd give up.  I don't think that's going to happen.  The only way to get the officials to wake up and realize they need to get their incompetant butts in gear is to hit them where it hurts--their tourism industry.  I shall be vacationing in the U.S. Virgin Islands this year.

Yes, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are safe....NOT!!!

I know where I'd rather go! Aruba! Aruba! Go Aruba!!!!!!!

11/17 The Search for Natalee and Amy

Just to clarify your information: Amy Bradley never dissapeared on Aruba!!!! So maybe you should check the information before stating things that are not true! She went missing on a cruiseship, the cruiseship was en route to Curacao, another island in the Caribbean. But she was last seen ON THE CRUISESHIP and did not go missing IN ARUBA!!! Just to give you some details, below I copied some information from the FBI website about this case fro you to read, please check out the rest of the information at www.fbi.gov: THE DETAILS

Amy Bradley was reported missing in the early morning hours of March 24, 1998. She was last seen by family members sitting on the balcony outside their cabin aboard the Rhapsody of the Seas cruise ship. The ship was en route to Curacao, Antilles at the time Amy was last seen. The ship docked in Curacao shortly after Amy was discovered missing. Extensive searches on the ship and at sea have produced no signs of Amy's whereabouts. This investigation is ongoing.

Amy Bradley dissapeared in the carribean still in the islands.  Your right people dissapear in the states.  That's why I stated I have nothing against Aruba it's just not the safest place on earth.  No place is safe ever.

I always worried about sending kids off on trips

Boy, these stories make me even more determined that I will not give my kids trips for graduation or spring breaks and such.  I always thought that even the best of kids could have trouble on them and now I see it can happen.  I just don't think they have the maturity yet to permit such trips.  I know this kind of thing could happen to anyone though.  Don't get me wrong, I do not think Natalies family is to blame.  Absolutely not!  They were just doing something nice for their daughter.  Boy, what a shame that something so simple as a vacation can turn out so wrong.  My heart goes out to these poor families and these girls.  I hope that they find them not only for their sake but also for the sake of others.  Bringing it out into the open by actually finding these girls can be a devastating blow for these countries who pretend it does not happen.  Hopefully that could make a huge difference because travel would slow and therefore their financial status would too, resulting in maybe new and tougher laws regarding these things.

11/17 The Search for Natalee and Amy

You make some good points.  If an Aruban girl was missing in the USA, it probably wouldn't even be necessary for Aruban authorities to step in because it is such a big country with an extremely well trained law enforcement system.  I don't really fault Aruba for their lack of expertise in that area, because they're a small island and this doesn't happen much there.

Except that it's pretty well-documented that non-white girls don't get nearly as much media attention as white ones do.  I'm not saying that this is a U.S.-specific problem but it is a problem.  "White slavery"?  I thought  I saw some "Latina slavery" and some "Aruban slavery" there, too, but who was complaining?  Are we supposed to think it's worse somehow if the girl is white?

While I feel terribly for both Miss Holloway and Ms. Twitty, and I get the impression both that Carlos 'n' Charlie's isn't a safe place and that the people that have been interviewed know more than they've told, I resent somewhat the attention that this whole case has received when there are a lot of other girls missing, who may be in similar situations, whose cases have not been able to win over this kind of media power.  I don't believe it's simply Ms. Twitty's persistence--lots of parents complain that they are told that their missing daughters are runaways, and cannot get help looking for them.    Not that I don't think finding Natalee is a worthy cause, but I would have liked to see Dr. Phil use this as an opportunity to call attention to missing children--teenage girls, in particular--in general.  All the girls the investigators talked to at the brothels are in the same situation that everyone fears Natalie is in, and need help just as much.
