Dr. Phil and Robin kick off their annual Holiday Extravaganza! They've invited families who had to evacuate their homes and leave everything behind because of Hurricane Katrina, host families who have opened their hearts and homes, and some amazing children who raised money for the relief efforts. It's a special celebration that includes a winter wonderland, celebrity surprises and the best toys and games for some deserving children! Talk about  the show here.

Christmas Extravaganza

 DR. PHIL & ROBIN,
I THINK IT IS JUST WONDERFUL HOW YOU ARE DOING THIS HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA. I THINK THAT IS AWESOME AND THAT THEY DESERVE TO HAVE CHRISTMAS JUST LIKE EVERYONE  ELSE. HURRICANE KATRINA WAS A BAD THING THAT NATURE BROUGHT TO UNITED STATES BUT I THINK IT IS AWESOME THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN IT INTO YOUR OWN HANDS AND BROUGHT THEM CHRISTMAS. I WANT TO SAY MY HEART AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT WERE AFFECTED BY HURRICANE KATRINA DURING THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON. I KNOW THAT IT HURTS WHEN YOU DON'T OR CAN'T PROVIDE YOUR KIDS WITH GIFTS. I KNOW THAT CHRISTMAS IS IMPORTANT TO KIDS. I KNOW THAT ALL OF YOU DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.

MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST

Quote From: blueridge8

Dr. Phil,  I just got off the phone with my mom.  She is very upset that you failed to include any children and families from the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

On the MS Gulf Coast entire towns were wiped out.  The town that she and my deceased father lived in for 20 years (Pass Christian) has gone from 6000 residents down to just 800.

It seems the media has forgotten the MS Gulf Coast.  It was tragic what happened in New Orleans but other parts of the Coast are suffering just as bad if not worse than the city of New Orleans.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast took a direct hit from Katrina.  New Orleans would have been OK if the levees had been kept up.

The house that my parents lived in for 20+ years is gone.  There is nothing left but the land the house stood on.  Please Dr. Phil, it is time for someone in the media to shine the spotlight on the devastation that occurred on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!

I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT JUST BECAUSE DOCTOR PHIL DIDN'T COME OUT AND SAY MISSISSIPPI. I DO BELIEVE THAT HE MEANTIONED THE GULF COAST AND LAST TIME I CHECKED MISSISSIPPI IS ON THE GULF COAST. I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD REALIZE THAT HE IS DOING SOMETHING GOOD INSTEAD OF BEING OVERLY NEGETIVE AND PICKING EVERYTHING THEY HAVE DONE APART.  WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THERE ISN'T A FAMILY FROM MISSISSIPPI THERE. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE MISSISSIPPIANS THERE BUT I DON'T THINK WE GET IT DONE BY BEING NEGETIVE AND CRITISIZING DOCTOR PHIL AND ROBIN FOR SOMETHING WONDERFUL THEY HAVE DONE. YOU GOT TO REALIZE DOCTOR PHIL IS DOING SOMETHING TO HELP HE CAN'T HELP EVERYONE ALL AT ONCE. I THINK WE SHOULD BE GREATFUL AND THEN COME ABOUT ASKING HIM TO HELP MISSISSIPPIANS IN  THE SAME WAY. I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD GO OFF THE DEPEND BECAUSE HE IS HELPING PEOPLE FROM NEW ORLEANS LIKE WE ARE JELOUS OF NOT GETTING HIS HELP.

You dont know what you are talking about!

Your point might be more valid if the hurricane had struck with no warning.

Anyone who waits out a predicted direct hit from a Cat 5 hurricane with no provisions for their pets doesn't deserve them in the first place.

And a local government official who doesn't understand the connection betwee pets and their owners doesn't deserve his job.

I work for a police dept on the MS Gulf Coast.  I lost my 3 dogs because I had no place to put them and I was busy saving the lives of humans that didnt evacuate.  It killed me to lose EVERYTHING my house, 4 of our cars, and my dogs but I thought my house would be safe because we had made it through so many storms before.  I would like since you know so much to tell me what I should have done.  I didnt want to go off and leave them but my job requires me to be there.

Happy Holidays!

Quote From: cfnp25

Dr. Phil I have been an avid watcher of your show, but you need to get off the "Holiday Bandwagon".  Christ is the reason for the season.  But, if you are trying to please the atheists calling it a "Holiday Extravaganza" shouldn't please them either because holiday means Holy Day!  Duh!  I never really thought your show would try to please these "politically correct" agendas. Although, whatever you call it Christmas or Holy Day, it all means the same thing and true Christians with a backbone know the reason for the season.
I have read many posts on here talking about Dr. Phil saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" and I don't think that is what the show was really about.  It was about giving the children of a hurrican something to look forward to, that life does go on and it will get better.  I have no idea why people are so demanding of others to say "Merry Christmas" when people say "Happy Holidays".  You don't hear people  tell others to say "Happy Holiday" when they say "Merry Christmas".  Yes, this is the time of year for Christmas, but also lots of other celebrations such as the Winter Soltice, Hannukah, and Kwanza.  I am tired of hearing people complaining that not everyone celebrates Christmas, guess what, it's a free country.  To get back to the topic at hand, I thought it was a wonderful show and those kids really deserve all the good things in life!

Dr. Phil is tring to do something good for a few people that have nothing left not emotion not faith not anything look why we are all sorry for everybodys lose please dont criticize the people that are tring to help so what if it was called happy kwanza or christmas exrtavaganza and is it that big of a deal that  that somebody felt the urge to help out the best that they could cause think about it if it would have been the children from mississippi then the same argument would be had just from a different perspective lets just be happy it is christmas and everybody deserves a liitle love and joy this time of year
