Dr. Phil and Robin kick off their annual Holiday Extravaganza! They've invited families who had to evacuate their homes and leave everything behind because of Hurricane Katrina, host families who have opened their hearts and homes, and some amazing children who raised money for the relief efforts. It's a special celebration that includes a winter wonderland, celebrity surprises and the best toys and games for some deserving children! Talk about  the show here.

Thank you Dr. Phil & Robyn

I'm just so excited for my friends Donna and Barbara.  We are all members of the same Ebaymommy Group and we couldn't be happier for them that you were able to do something so wonderful for them.  Of course we still have 2 more days worth of shows to watch as they have been VERY closed mouthed about EVERYTHING.  You'd be so proud!  LOL!   THANK YOU...THANK YOU....THANK YOU for all you are doing for ALL of these families!!!!  Hugs, Blessings, and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.  imamommee <><

Thank you, Dr. Phil & Robin, for showing that the people affected by Katrina & her aftermath haven't been forgotten.

I was born & raised in New Orleans, in the house that my daddy & grandpa built in Lakeview.  The 17th Street canal levee was my backyard, literally.  We played on it as kids, oblivious to the danger that lurked there.  2 of my sisters also bought houses on the same street, & I bought a house about a mile away.  When Katrina threatened, we evacuated to central Mississippi, thinking that we'd be back after a few days.  NO ONE had ANY idea that it would end up like this.  We lost our homes, jobs, schools.  My special needs son lost access his caregiver & therapists.  We lost our way of life.  And, I lost my hometown.  Unless you go to New Orleans & see it yourself, you can't even begin to imagine the ENORMITY of the devastation.  Pictures don't even come close...

I realize that the focus has been on New Orleans, but so much of the Gulf Coast was devastated.  The pain felt in Mississippi & Alabama is just as horrific as in Louisiana, & my heart goes out to those folks.   So much was lost, so much...

But, we consider ourselves blessed.  We all made it out alive.  Our extended family has taken us in while we rebuild our lives.  We're starting new jobs & new schools, & we'll land on our feet.  I only hope that my beloved New Orleans will land on her feet, too.  (If you've never visited NO, you've truly missed something special.  That city had so much personality & culture & character, you'd swear she had a pulse...)

Bless you, Dr. Phil & Robin, for continuing to come to the aid of those affected, from the victims & first responders to those who opened their hearts & homes during this heartbreaking time.  The recovery process is going to take years - I'll humbly ask, please don't forget us.  We need & deeply appreciate your help.

Signed,

I know what it means to miss New Orleans

Your beautiful eloquent letter moved me to tears.  As a former Houstonian, I have visited NO many times and I cannot imagine a world without her.

I will keep you in my prayers.

THe Show was great!

I enjoyed the show very much. I think that is great when people put the effort and money into making the victims of the hurricane feel special (especially at this time of year) and that they also can have a Merry Christmas too.  It was nice to see the smiles on the childrens faces and also their parents.  I am sure it meant a lot to them.   Dr.Phil and Robin, are generous people and I am sure they will be forever grateful that they made this season brighter for them.

12/14 Dr. Phil and Robin's Holiday Extravaganza

I agree that the world needs more genuinely good people like Dr. Phil and Robyn . I grew up very poor and me and my 4 younger siblings relied on the kindness of strangers a lot especially during the holiday season if it wasn't for the bell ringing salvation army people we would have had nothing. I always do what I can since I've become a adult but it just isn't enough sometimes. Christmas brings out the good in people but its good to remember that people in need are in need all year long so we should all do what we can for others even when there is nothing directly in it for us. In my opinion kids over all today have become spoiled and rely a lot on electronic and material things so its good to see kids get so excited over something as simple as a Mr. potato head toy. I cried the whole episode and I can't wait till tomorrow.

I hope many girls in our Troop have seen this show.  We are planning to help out victims of Katrina by doing a book drive for Kiln, Mississippi to help restock their library at Gulfview Elementary.  We are looking for books for grades kindergarten through 5th.  I am using any form of publicity to get the word out.  We already have a trucking company donating a truck to get our cargo out there.  If anyone has any ideas or know any other ways to help us out let me know.  We are from Plainfield, IL.  We are a troop of 25 Girl Scouts.

Thanks.

Michelle

I dont know how yall decided on Kiln MS but you have know idea how happy I am yall did.  I am from right outside of The Kiln and we are still in need of so much.  If you need to know anything let me know.  I will do whatever I can to get you the answers.

Please tell your group thank you

The Barbara and Donna Friendship story

I would just like to say that i think Barbara is a wonderful, caring person to be so concerned with people and their feelings. She was such a good friend to take Donna and her family under her wing and nominate them for this show. She had never even met her-only talked to her on the Ebay mom's chat sight and to take time out of her busy day to do what had to be done was a wonderful thing for her to do. It takes a great person to to this --and i am sure she has also done other wonderful things for people in the past. Yeah for her and you are lucky to have had her on your show. keep up the good work.

Happy Holidays

As much as I love Dr. Phil and Robin and everything they do to make the world a better place, I must admit that I was a tad bit disappointed when the Santa Claus at the party said the PC "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas.

I can almost bear seeing all the signs changed, but I cannot accept those words coming from Santa's mouth himself.
