I am in the 3pm viewing area, and I know tons of people out there get to see it very early, please don't leave us in suspense. Is the show mostly Dr. Phil or is he talking with each of the challengers? I have read chapter one in the book and it looks like a lot to cover with each challenger since they all use food for different and possibly numerous reasons per person. (so do I) I will be checking back for new entries.

Hi, I watch the show 9 AM EST. Dr. Phil discussed Key #1 and spoke to some of the challengers personally about what their internal dialogue was and the steps they took toward Right Thinking. I finished the book at the end of last week. I was not dissappointed either. But I have to really work on these seven keys daily. I am really enjoying Dr. Phil's WLC shows and don't miss one of them. This book has really helped me understand why I have always been overweight and why I eat the way I do. I am so excited about my journey to permanent weight loss!!!

I just watched the show! What an eye opener!! I read the book, but with Dr Phil spelling it out, in person, it makes it more real. I read the first key in the book and it didnt really sink in until he went over it in detail. He makes you stop and think...really think what is going on in our heads. To the 13 that are opening their whole lives in front of the world, I commend you! I feel what every one of you are thinking. Or I should say...WERE thinking. From now...positive attitudes, positive thinking will only fill my head!

Hi, LaDonna - I'm sure you've discovered it yourself by now, but just in case...

The four questions are listed in the WLC Homework section tonight!

            Hi Ladonna,

These four questions are so important in my life, I have made a card and carry it with me. As I teach myself to become AWARE of my internal dialogue I question the validity of every negative thought that may occur. If I cannot validate the thought I immediately kick it to the curb and reinforce the positive in my life. If there is some validity to the negative message I examine it, I make the necessary changes and reinforce the positive. Dr. Phil's Four questions are as follows:

            1. Is my internal dialogue true?
2.) Does my internal dialogue serve my best interest
3.) Does my internal dialogue advance and protect my health?
4.) Is my internal dialogue helping me achieve my weight management goals?

I also put a note to myself on my little card, which reads as follows:"Mony, you do this for you sister/friend. Do NOT let others or your own stikin' thikin' thoughts that may enter my head get the best of me EVER again. I'm going to have some rockette legs becasue anytime I have a nasty thought I'm going to kick it out of my life!"

The best of everything to you, Ladonna! God Bless!

              Hi Monika,
I got the book right when it came out and have been through some of the exercises already! It has not been an easy journey but one that has opened my eyes and a few doors in my soul.
I now ask the four questions to myself everyday in the knowledge that it will keep me from sliding backwards! Making a card is a good idea and I will use that with a little something that I got from Oprah on the LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE seminar that goes:
"I surrender all. I surrender all. All to thee my Blessed Savior. I surrender all."
When I feel overwhelmed I say this to myself like a mantra and find, at least for me, that it helps so much and I can get back my power to stay on track.
I'm rooting for you and wish for you all the best!
I will be 50 next August and am working towards my goal of losing 53 pounds (I've lost 20 pounds already from my high of 187 lbs.) by October next year! It doesn't sound like alot of weight to some but on a 4ft 11in. frame that is quite a load to carry! I don't want to back slide like I've done before so that is why I'm so serious about going through with this. And learning that to live my best life means I must have it be a healthy life too!
I live on the island of Maui in Hawaii! I live in a little slice of God's heaven.
Where you can see the ocean and the mountains right from my front door!
Hope we can keep in touch using the boards!
I send my Aloha to you and to everyone who is on this journey with us! I wish you all God's Love and Blessings
              You are a brave soul!

              Hi Mony,
I saw that's what you called yourself, so I thought I'd be brave too and use that name! Ijust wnated you to know that you are wonderful. I love watching all of you. I've been watching Dr. Phil for years, and I too am doing this WLC by myself at home. I am working hard from the book and treasure the information. What I find so extraordinary is that as a recovering addict (clean almost 15 years) I have used many similar tools to get out of the hell I lived for years, get clean and stay clean this long and yet had never been able to translate it to my weight (I'm about 110 lbs. overweight). I've worked through so many abuse issues to put my life together and my weight has been the longest lasting obstacle. The lightbulb that turned on today for me was during the show when Dr. Phil told us to write the story about if we failed. I started thinking about what my story would be, and it scared me, a lot! I DO not want to go back from where I came. But I decided that if you an do this so can I. It was freaky, as he read your internal dialogue statements I could swear you had peeked over my shoulder and read mine! I love your analogy of having Rockette legs from kicking things to the curb so I have decided to adopt that as my motto too. If you knew how truly amazing you are you'd be amazed, wouldn't we all. Words cannot express my gratitude to you and the other 12 for showing me how you do this. It reminds me I'm not alone.
              Kelly

              Hi Monika,
It is really nice to see you post because it makes things feel more real to me. It seems I can relate to each one of you on the show, which seems to scare the heck out of me. I have had at least one of each person’s situation if not two or three.
I just started working step one and I have a problem with constant negative thoughts. It seems overwhelming to ask myself the 4 questions every negative thought. Did you seem to feel this way also?
I am just starting out with this step and it seems to be more than a full days work. I would have loved to be there with you all.

              In search of life,
              Angel

Glad your posting on this site!
Watched 'Phil' yesterday...and of all the challengers...I most identify with you...I am in 'your corner'..and will watch your continuing 'success' story.
We have 'started' to form a 'group' here, Triad Weight Challenge Team...we are all meeting for the first time this Wed. evening...in all places...a restaurant! I've already 'met' one of my buddies..and we started our first walk together last night...think we're planning on keeping that going...I have been 'eating' right, drinking water...and 'trying' to stay committed to my exercise...so far, so good..have lost about 6-7 lbs! I feel thinner! My highest weight this yr. was 186...I'm at 164! Pretty good huh ( all not lost with Dr.Phil) 34 more to go...well, better than the 54 I started with!
Good Luck...lots of people rooting for all of you!

The four questions you are referring to are listed on this web site as well, which I recommend finding for word for word accuracy on what he said they were, but here are his questions that I ask myself now on a regular basis after learning them in Key #1 and now using them again in key #2. I highly recommend asking yourself them whenever you cath yourself listening to you internal dialogue.

Question one is; Is that True?
two is; Is it serving your best interest?
3 is: Is this in the best interest of your health? and the fourth one is; Is this helping you achieve your weight management goals?

I found this exercise to be extremely powerful!! I took my time doing the work in Key #1 and have made a committment not to read ahead in the book, and to do all the exercises in each key, and as soon as I get it, I mean really get it at the core of my being, I don't move onto the next key! This has been the most challenging and rewarding work I have ever done in regards to dealing head on with my weight issues!I commend Dr. Phil greatly for his committment to change our lives because this weight issue has plagued me my whole life and finanally I've said, "Enough is enough"!

I am in hardy ageement with lifewisdom...one must fully embrace each step if one is to change the lifestyle! Getting seven keys clearly defined in ones head for a lifetime is good work...it will take time and thinking and committment. I'm there and ready to go the distance. Klynnholl

I agree with you 100 percent! All day long whenever a bad thought about my weight popped into my head, it was like a lightbulb going off. So positive thoughts are the #1KEY! Hopefully by the time the book is read and Dr.Phils explanation are finished. THIN will be ingrained in all our heads, as well as the reflection in our mirrors. Good Luck to all!

I watched the first one, where Dr. Phil was talking to Anne Marie and some of the others about their "right thinking". It was a challenge to me also. I can't believe all the areas in my life that my thinking was in the negative!! Not only weight, but in trying to get my cholesterol down (from 285). Also all my life I have had negative thinking about other things. I've never married, and one of the reasons has been my negative thinking. I've also gotten some of my negative thinking from my mother, who has been very bitter about many things, and bitter thinking always runs off on others around you.

After this, I am going to start what Anne Marie did, put down the negative thoughts, and opposite that a positive thought and start changing my thinking. AND I am going to finish the rest of Dr. Phil's Book!! Thank you Dr. Phil for writing this book!!

Also, to all of the participants in this Weight loss group, Hang in there!! I think you can do it!! Now you have to BELIEVE you can do it.
