Kelly Osbourne Debuts as Special Contributor on Dr. Phil
Multi-Dimensional Television
Personality Lends Her Unique Style and Insight to the Conversation
(Los Angeles, CA – March 23, 2010) – DR. PHIL welcomes a new addition to his
long-running show this week as Kelly Osbourne appears as a special
contributor.
In the first of multiple appearances scheduled throughout the remainder
of this season and into next, Osborne joins a panel alongside Dr. Harold C. Urschel III, founder of the Urschel
Recovery Science Institute, THE INSIDER
correspondent Chris Jacobs, and California Attorney General Jerry Brown in a
frank discussion about prescription drug use in Hollywood, and its effects on
today’s teens, Wednesday, March 24, 2010
Osbourne was first introduced to television viewers worldwide some 10
years ago in the Emmy Award-winning series The Osbournes. Over the past decade she has overcome many
challenges in her personal life while managing to carve out a successful career
in television, film, musical theater and fashion, and most recently finishing
in third place of 16 couples on Dancing
With The Stars.
This multi-faceted woman is a columnist for Britain’s biggest-selling newspaper, The Sun, as well as an avid campaigner for teenager’s rights. While only 25 years old, Osbourne brings many years of life experiences to the popular daytime talk show where she hopes to reach out to younger viewers and offer insight based upon her own life lessons.
“Kelly is an excellent addition to our show because she’s experienced a
lot of what many of our younger viewers may be going through,” said Dr. Phil. “She has dealt with drug addiction as well as
addictions within her family. She’s also fought the battle with obesity,
and the public scrutiny that often accompanies it. She is well-armed and up to
the task of being our special contributor.”
“We’re excited about having Kelly as part of the DR. PHIL team,” said executive producer Carla Pennington. “We
see her role not limited to that of just a studio guest, but someone who we can
send out in the field to gather information and to do interviews, particularly
with young people, on a more comfortable and even playing field.”
“I am excited to be a part of DR. PHIL as a contributor for the show,” said Osborne. “It offers a great opportunity for me to bring a youthful perspective and opinion on the issues that affect our selves, our families and society as a whole, and I'm very honored to be a part of it.” Osborne continues, “I really hope I can use my life experiences to do some good."
The syndicated series, DR. PHIL, was created by Harpo Productions, and is produced by Peteski Productions in association with CBS Television Distribution. It is broadcast on over 214 stations representing 100% of the country. Since its debut in September 2002, the series has been ranked second among all daytime talk shows and consistently ranks among the Top Ten of all syndicated strips (Source: NSS Ranking Report).
