“Dr. Phil, how do I deal with not having the latest fashions and having the pressure to have the fashion, because we don’t have the money to get it?” asks 10-year-old Marlie on home video.
“In other words, you feel like you’re not cool enough, or you’re not going to be accepted if you don’t look like everybody else?” Kadi asks her daughter, and she nods. The mom directs her next question to Dr. Phil. “How can I teach them to love themselves just for being themselves and not what they look like?”
“Probably, yes,” the tween responds with a grin.
“What would you buy?” Dr. Phil asks. “What’s the big fashion thing?”
“Most of the girls at my school, they all wear the little skinny jeans and the new black,” Marlie answers.
